    Re: New 997TT spy shots

FANTASTIC! WOW! There's virtually no camo at all, except maybe a sticker over the side intakes. The headlights are definately smaller than the 997 Carrera's, in my view. I don't like the wheels though I hope the 'Turbo Twists' are still available as an option.

Official press release and press pics must be just on the horizon.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    That is beautiful!!!

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

..wow... that looks really bad. (though it looks to be photoshopped)
I can't imagine that those side vents will make it into production.
The front is also not aggressive enough...
They were better off just going back to the design of the 993 Turbo.
I was so looking forward to this car... looks like they may have spent all their design dollars on the Cayman.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

The car was testing at Boxber on friday (three days ago), but was still camouflaged. looks like this is heavily photoshopped. maybe a comment of our photoshop specialists - Carlos??- would help.
IMO the looks are quite a disappointment if that's what it is. far too conservative and similar to the actual 996tt..

    cheers

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Are you guys serious? It's beautiful, the front grill looks great. The only potential PS is the rear grills - they don't look 'real' enough.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

The proportions don't look right. And those Cayman like foglights at the front just don't look aggressive enough IMO.

Thnaks for pics though - any views on whether it's real or not. Generally Hans Lehman gets things right doesn't he?

My only gripe as stated before is the horizontal slats for the side intakes, too pseudo-Boxster-ish, I'd love to see the door height intakes as on the older camo. pics. Otherwise, I LIKE the look of the 996TT (that's one reason I got one ).

I agree I prefer the turbo-twisties for wheels ala the 993/996TT. Hope that's at least an option on the 997TT.

Should I make plane reservations for Geneva, Switzerland for next March?

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    Truly disgusting.
Other than the wheels everything on this looks photoshopped.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

My first impression was that it is photoshoped... but I can' t be sure, I am no specialist!
    I don't like the front spoiler....too crowded.
I think the back looks great!!!!! Remindes me more of the 993, even of some older models.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

There's "camo" around the fog lights....

I agree. Feels photoshopped to me.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

I don't know, I think the car on the pictures has been Photoshop "enhanced", I think there was camouflage which has been removed "digitally". BUT...this thing is pretty close to the real thing, I have to admit.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

if that's right RC, I think it's really a pity. They missed the chance to bring any Carrera GT elements to it, unlike Ferrari did with the 430 re Enzo. Truly boring!!

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

The one of the worst "professional" photoshops I've seen! I'll wait to see better pictures before I comment.

    RC,

My main aesthetics critique is the horizontal slats on the side intakes. Any comment on whether or not you think this might show up in the final product? Otherwise, in S form with >500HP, I'll be pleased with the looks-just give me my turbo twisties for wheels/rims.

    It's definately been photoshoped imo.
Where are the headlight washers ?

I'm hoping so anyway because it looks like crap. Not something I'd like to admit on a car I have a deposit on and waiting for anxiously. Honestly, if it looks like that I'd probably change my mind and buy a 4S Cab instead next year.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Performance aside , because it doesn't have the " retro " bumper mounted turn signals like the other 997s , this 997 Turbo looks to the world almost like a 996 Turbo with busy BMW 760Li / Cayenne style wheels ( unfortunately reinforces the overly busy strakes everywhere) and aftermarket rear fascia with " upside down " exhaust tips .

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Surprised at all the negative feedback to be honest. So what is not so good about it? Is it just the front Cayman styled bumper?

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Sorry, I don't like it either.
It looks like a potato-cutter to make frenchfries... All those horizontal lines and airintakes, so overdone...
I'll have to see it in live for a definitve point of view...

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

I agree looks like a photoshop job! I really hope this it look alittle meaner than this!!!

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    wonderful helmet .....ahhahaahh!

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Looks like they hired an ex-Pontiac designer... too many louvers/scallops or whatever-you-want-to-call-them. Not anywhere near as pretty as the 996TT, so I hope it's just a butcher's job with PS!!

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Its photoshopped alright (exhaust, front turn signal, fog lights, side intakes, front lip, etc) probably form a spypic of a 997TT with verylight camo, but it gives us a good idea of what the spy pics have been pointing at. The rear wing doesn't seem to be photoshopped at all, nor the wheels BTW.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    Carlos,
Can you develop on these pictures as to what the 997TT may look like.

Of course whenever you have time .

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

I sure would but I wouldn't know what to add its pretty much finished, the exhaust tips incorporated into the bumper, the side intakes, the front bumper, etc. The only thing I'm not sure about is the design of the side intakes on this photoshop

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

This may be close to the final product. I am not sure if its been digitally altered but what gives the picture credibility is the center caps of the wheels are missing and a prof. photographer would never put his copyright name on an altered picture.

If this is close to the final product then hope its performance is outstanding to make up for its appearance. It really is butt ugly.

I couldn't agree more! I read somewhere a while back that Porsche was planning to really go to town with the 997 generation Turbo because they reckoned the 996 Turbo suffered from being physically too close to the regular cars, even though to drive it is in a whole different category to the normally aspirated 911s.

But if this is what they've come up with, I am seriously disappointed

You know, I agree with Nick. If Porsche can only come up with THAT, I'll seriously consider buying a 996 GT2 instead of this.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Hmm.... doubt it will be finished product. Prefer aggressive styling of 993 and 996 turbos. Pic looks a bit photoshopped.

    Fingers crossed...
