    Zaino

Hi guys, I will be picking my atlas grey this weekend and searching around for some babying products for her. Wanted to see from everyone's experience whether or not Zaino is worth all that time. All the steps make it a hassle. Is it really that much better than other waxes? I really don't want to spend an entire day cleaning her up.

    Re: Zaino

Ok, all those cars you have listed in your signature line.. are they all in your garage at once? Envy envy envy..... what a stable. Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone else will. I do believe Zaino is a polish, not a wax, and most people here rave about it. By the way, we want some PICS of your 997!

    Re: Zaino

I used to have a detailer do this for my cars, but now that I'm retired, I wouldn't mind going back to my teenage days and spend some time in the garage. BTW, the only car that sits outside is my AW M3. Looking into getting a lift for the garage so I could get the 997 in without having to push one of the cars out.

    Re: Zaino

I don't view the detailing of my car as a hassle. I rather think of it as an enjoyable pasttime and therefore the time is an escape and disversion from my job and a source of enjoyment. It is true that it is multiple steps but if applyed as per manufacturers directions the application time is rather short, removal is easy, no dusty residue and the result is a satisfying brilliant, deep, protective, long lasting shine. I would recommend Z1, Z2, Z6, Z8 and Z16 (tire gloss). Check out their products at ZainoBros.com.

And lets see some pics of your car. I finally got my clear sides, colored center crests and value stems and will post some pics of my Guards Red this weekend. It has 10 coats of Zaino on it. Was it worth it? I think so. It is part of my therapy (about 25%) and I think you can guess what comprises the other 75%!!

    Re: Zaino

red911, is it pretty easy to change out the clears? It was a snap for my Turbo.

Sometimes I wish my son was still living at home. We would have so much fun working on the cars together.

Will be picking up the car this Saturday. Hopefully, it doesn't rain. I would love to take it out to the Presidio for some pictures!

    Re: Zaino

It took me about 1 minute per side. Just unplug the existing and plug in the new - no muss, no fuss!!. I have had some very enjoyable father - son details so I know what your are talking about. And my son is working in Chicago now but we still talk cars and he is in the market again, having just sold his 1995 E36 M3!! He is on the VW R32 right now. Does anyone have any experience with this car?

    Re: Zaino

A little over a year ago, we were at Ron Price test driving it. My son was in the market for a car since he was promoted over at PWC. It felt pretty quick for a car in the $30k range. The power felt pretty linear and the ride was so so. He decided to go with the G35 Coupe instead though.

While we are on the topic of detailing, have any of you guys let the dealer prep the vehicle before taking it home? I know many do not like how the dealers wash the cars, but I personally have never had any issues with their first detail. I just don't want to drive home with the plastic still stuck on the car.

    Re: Zaino

I had the plastic removed but did not let the dealer touch the car otherwise. When I got the car home I did have some residual lines on the surface where the protective coating was attached. These came off as I applied the Zaino. Maybe not the first time but I can assure you that the lines are gone now. It is hard enough to keep the swirl marks off your car without having it buffed at the dealership. Albeit, I am quite anal about my cars and their paint. I still have some surface scratches. As soon as I got her home I used Dawn to remove any wax and then washed the car with Zaino car wash and then applied a coat of Z1. That remains on the car. The next step is Z2, after the Z1 dries, and then you can stop or keep applying more coats of Z2. The more coats of Z2 the deeper and more protective the shine. In between, I use either Z6 or Z8 to keep the car clean. My car is not a daily driver so I don't need to wash real often and use the Z6 and Z8 in between washes and both products do a good job of enhancing the Z2 shine. Personally, I would not let the dealership use a buffer on your car.

    Re: Zaino

buffed at the dealership .......... all to common at just about every dealership . d

Do not wax the car until you put the clear bra on .

    Re: Zaino

I've written at some length about car waxes on Elisetalk.com.

Essentially I believe that if you just want to wax once or twice a year, Zaino is great because it lasts so long. On the car I baby more often, I use a less durable wax that is easier to use.

A lot of people hype up Zaino, but the key to good results is preparing the paint with chemical cleaners or polishes, and then topping with the wax or sealant of your choice. Contrary to the label, Zaino is a sealant, not a polish.

    Re: Zaino

I've been using Zaino for about three years. Love It. Switched from Griots, although I still use several of their products, polish, wax and speedshine are not on the list.

    Re: Zaino

I did the Zaino treatment on my car. I bought it used with 3,600 miles on it, so after washing it with Dawn, I started with a couple of applications of the scratch / swirl mark remover Z5 I believe it is called. Then I did 3 coats of Z2 with the harder added to it. That allow you to do it all in a day verses waiting 24 hours in between coats. I am very satisfied with the results. It goes on easy and comes off very easy too. Assuming you don't over apply it.

I do have a question for some of the experts though. I noticed I have some water spots on my front bumper cover. I must not have been completely dry before I started the zaino treatment; anyway this stuff is like putting glass cover over the car since I can't seem to remove the water spots now. Any ideas? I used some Dawn mixed with water on the bumper and does not seem to make a dent in it. I also used some of the swirl remover assuming it would break down the zaino does not seem to it either?

    Re: Zaino

Bill, I'm no expert, but I do know that lots of detailers will mix water with white vinegar for the water spots. The first time I washed my S I came away with several sun dried water spots that were pretty nasty, and the water/vinegar concoction removed them easily. I can't say, however, how it will work with the Zaino applied, but it's worked on every water spot I've tried to remove.

    Re: Zaino

Thanks for all the input. I'm looking forward being busy with the 997 this weekend.

    Re: Zaino

Zaino works very well. It does require multiple layers to get best effect so it is time consuming. Definitely use the accelerator. Oh and, it's not a wax, it's polish. There is no such thing as Zaino wax.

    Re: Zaino

It's not a polish, but a sealant or polymer product, despite what Zaino likes to market it as. The new Zaino ZPC is a polish.

    Re: Zaino

Guys, listen to Justin, he really knows what he is talking about as far as detailing.
Jackie, do a search on Elisetalk and you'll find the whole thread on Zaino. I personally like Zaino because you can work on it one weekend and than forget aqout it for months as the water will still bead and the car stays cleaner and shinier longer than regular waxes.
