    No Blue Devil coming?

    I was reading this article on autoblog and it said that Autoweek got to ask Dave Hill, the Corvette chief engineer, about the upcoming blue devil. Dave Hill's reply was "If you have an idea that we're coming in a few years with something a lot better than this, you're going to spend a lot of time on the sidewalk watching Corvettes go by."

    so i personally was wondering, where did this blue devil rumor leak from? and do you think that there is going to be a devil after all.

    P.S. Dave Hill said the z06 was created to compete with 911 turbo.

    I think they're still coming with a higher performance Vette than the Z06. Some say it will be called "Corvette SS".

    This name would be somehow unsuitable for the Central European market. The "SS" used to be a task force of Adolf Hitler...

    I'm well aware of that unfortunate fact. Chevrolet has used that moniker (Super Sport) since the mid-60's though (alot closer to WWII) and they are drawing on the nostalgia factor (but hopefully not nostalgia for Hitler).

    But seriously, I think we shouldn't let political correctness get in the way too much. "SS" actually sounds like a nice name for a car once you stop linking it to that chicken farmer who called himself Himmler.

    For you youngsters, the Corvette SS was a design Chevrolet had in 1957, way before the Impala SS, which came out in late 1961. web page

    I never knew that there was a Vette SS, even if it wasn't a production car. Thanks for the link.
    I think (and hope) we'll see something above the ZO6 sometime soon. I'm not surprised that it's being denied right now, since the C6 ZO6 is so new. Maybe they don't want people to get too worked up about the 'Blue Devil' or 'SS' when they're trying to sell ZO6s.

    i'm still betting that they come out with a vette above the Z06....though a Z06 would suit me just fine, thank you
