    Front

The color is Black with Tan Leather. I know Black is hard to clean but I couldn't resist when I saw it in person. Than tan leather is also much improved over the tan in the 986.

    Re: My 987S

    Carrera Classic wheel shot

I originally wanted the Carrera S wheels but couldn't resist these when I saw them in person. Easy to clean as well.

    Re: My 987S

Rear Shot on pickup day with my salesman helping me learn the controls.

Have had the car for almost a month now and am loving every minute of it. Got it in LA, but live in San Diego. Any local San Diego Rennteam members here?

Looks like Sand Beige to me.

Nice though. Thanks for posting pics! Hope you have fun with her.

    Re: My 987S

    Yup its Sand Beige

Its my dream car! Also, anyone debating buying the PASM should just do it. Totally chages the character of the car.

    Re: My 987S

Forgot to say, welcome to the board! (Belated I see, but welcome none the less!)

    Re: My 987S

Thanks wtsnet! I'm so glad I found this board. Great resource and fun to talk with other Porsche enthusiasts around the world.

    Side Shot

Had to post one more side shot! Enjoy

    Re: My 987S

Love it! ...and wish I had the classic wheels. They're so much more classy, mmmm.

    Re: My 987S

    She's A BEAUTY, Congrats & Enjoy !!

    Re: My 987S

    Hmm this car looks familiar

All you have to do now is put clear sidemarkers. I think the clear sides look much more dramatic on black than other colors, makes it look super sleek. I'll have updated pictures of my car up soon reflecting this change. Welcome to the Black Boxster S family

    Re: My 987S

Let make a Boxster meeting in Los Angeles.
    Beautiful interior.

    Re: My 987S

Thanks! I would acutally love to get the clear sidemarkers. Where can I get those? Can I install them myself?

As for the car itself, it is breaking in nicely. It now has 1200 miles and I have strictly been following the 4000 rpm break in although that has been hard. Took it to just over 5000 a couple of times. I have noticed that the car seems to be getting a little faster as it breaks in more. Is this normal? Also, the 6 speed gearbox is getting even smoother.

The power curve is definitly more linear than my old car which was a 2001 Audi S4. That car has more low end torque and pulled a bit better in the 2000-3000 rpm range. The Boxster S seems to really come on song right around 3800 to 4200 rpms. Can't wait to really open it up. The handling is just unreal. The S4 handled pretty well but the Boxster S just blows it away on anything handling related. On a couple of trips out to the country I have taken some 30mph curves at 80 and the car just feels so confidence inspiring. It was nowhere even close to its limits. I have driven a 993 and the Boxster S feels more powerful than that car and more stable in the corners as well.

    Re: My 987S

You can just order them from the dealer. They simply pop in. Check the owners manual on how to change the side marker bulbs and you will have all the info you need. They don't cost much either.

    Re: My 987S

    www.bumperplugs.com

I ordered the clear sidemarkers and the door plug. Sidemarkers really make the car look very nice, door plug making it look a little smoother from the side (no off color keyhole). Highly recommended. You just pop out the old markers (you don't have to follow the manual, just carefully pull them off) and put in the new ones, it will take all of 5 minutes. The price is well worth the aesthetic improvement IMO.

I'm glad you like the power - I am at about 1350 miles and I have hit the 5,000 RPM mark on occasion. I don't have enough restraint to keep it under 4,200.

Great choice on the black, you will never get tired of it....you'll only get tired cleaning it - which I do bi-weekly (wash on the weekend, touch up in between, wax every quarter is my plan).

    Re: My 987S

Thanks for the help on the clear sidemarkers. You are right, its very hard to keep under the 4200 rpm limit!

I have cleaned the car 3 times already so far and waxed it once. It definitly shows dust more than other colors, but I am really glad I picked black. The San Beige also goes really well with the Black for those of you considering that combo.

    Re: My 987S

Very nice - so glad i've changed my order from Atlas to Black

    Re: My 987S

You won't regret it my friend, you won't regret it.

    Re: My 987S

    percymon,

I saw the car in Atlas as well and the color is nice, but does not seem to stand out the same way that Black does. You will love it!

    Re: My 987S

Well, I have now had the car for almost 5 weeks and have put 1400 miles on it. The car actually seems to be getting faster than when I picked it up with 11 miles on the odometer. Has anyone else noticed that their cars have gotten faster after a bit of break in?

Road & Track magazine attributed the performance improvement of the last 997S they tested to having been broken in. I think it had 5,400 miles on it and it was noticeably quicker than one that had a few miles on it.

    Re: My 987S

    Yes, I've noticed that.
Faster and quieter after 2000 miles.
Going to Germany next week, so we'll see how fast it really is

    Re: My 987S

Looks fantastic, those wheels look huge, and a lot easier to clean than my Sport Designs.

    Enjoy.

    Re: My 987S

    Thanks Jalf987,

I also loved the way the wheels look when I first went to see the car. I originally wanted the 19 inch Carrera S wheels but the Classics just looked amazing in person. As you said, they are really easy to clean.
