I have to pick the car (and the driver's manual) from Munich in a couple of days. It's getting colder by the day so I wonder if I should put winter tires immediately.

Btw, the car is white, brand new and fully loaded

Weather should stay somewhat stable until early next week but after that... Smiley

Winter tires could be a good idea, especially if you drive you car back home.

You should make winter wheels arrangements prior to pickup because especially now, winter wheels could be difficult to get.

I think you misunderstood my reply.

I was just kidding indecision

I wouldn't even think to drive the car in winter conditions without winter tires. I couldn't find any official tire recommendation but now that people here confirmed it, I will order a set at my local dealer.

Porsche never mentions GT3 (RS) in their winter tire offerings in the Tequipment catalog. It seems that I should order the 20-inch Carrera S winter wheel-and-tire set painted in Platinum (satin-matt) Front axle:8.5 J x 20 RO 51 with 245/35 R 20 91V M+S tires, RA:11 J x 20 RO 52 with 295/30 R 20.

According to the weather forecast, early next week will be OK for a trip from Munich to Switzerland and Italy. Not the best season to explore a GT3 RS but hey...I shouldn't complain much.

I suggest trying to get a deal from the dealer.

My OEM winter wheel set for the 991.1 GTS C4 Cab was 7600 EUR.

Looked on eBay and found the same set for 6000 EUR (OK, slightly used...like 500 km or so...but still).

Told my parts guy at the dealership that I found a set on eBay for 6000 and if he can match this price, I will order it from him. Two days later, I had the set on my car.

Talk to the dealer... I do not know his invoice price but I am pretty sure that he pays less than 6000 EUR for this set.

OT: Saw the prototype for the McLaren P1LM on the Ring today doing tourist driving (5 will be/are built).

Sparks where flying from underneath it when we where overtaken.

I am in the happy position that my wife hates driving. Meaning: I get to do all the driving. I would never get along with a female car nut. Also, nobody wants to have me in the passenger seat, I have to comment all the time on the driving. Smiley
