Intro/Rumination/Euro Delivery on C4S Question...
After having lurked here and over at rennlist.com for a few weeks, I wanted to make an official intro and ask a question, to boot. I really appreciate everyone's knowledge, and hope I can give some valuable input.
My wife and I were driving around Mill Valley, CA today, on our way to Sonnen Porsche so that I could ponder the future existence of a 997 C4S in our garage, when suddenly a silver on red Mercedes SLR/McLaren appeared cruising around the city center! Of course I was amazed at its lines, and the lovely sound emanating from the twin-pipes tucked behind the front wheel well... Why is this relevant...? Because after explaining the price of the SLR to my wife, it made shopping for the 911 soooo much easier for her to stomach (we just had our first baby, so she's more concerned with strollers than PASM or Sport Chrono-speak). She didn't like the up-charge on the Slate Grey paint, though... BTW, they had three C-GTs on the lot; one was ready to be picked up, two in for service.
Question: I discussed the possibility of a European Delivery option for a C4S with the salesman. I understand I don't actually save anything on the car's price as compared to the U.S. price (another $3k!). However, he suggested it would take longer for the car to be made? Something about the dealer's monthly allotment-explanation? Has anyone else had any experience with Euro Delivery? Do you pick the delivery date and work back from there? I already did a search and did not find much info on it.
Thanks. Almost a waiter. Sorry for the long post. jmr
