    sports steering wheel

    Does anyone have a picture of the thicker sports steering wheel? It may have been posted before but I cannot find it. I have a few weeks before my order is locked in.....

    He wants the "thicker sports steering wheel", which has a second layer of leather sewn over the rim with more apparent stitching. There wasa post about a week ago of the right one.

    My 997s is equipped with the thicker sport wheel...great option and worth the money.

    This one looks like the thicker sports steering wheel. It's hard to tell the difference in thickness from pictures but you can see it has the smooth leather and the cross stitching is different.

    The thicker sports steering wheel is option XPA. ($800.)

    There's 4 steering wheels for the 997 S
    Sport steering wheel - STANDARD
    Multi-function w/ smooth leather (triangle air-bag)
    Smooth leather sport steering wheel
    Thicker sport steering wheel w/ smooth leather.

    I don't know the options for a Boxster but from your pics it looks like you have the standard sports steering wheel. You can see the difference in the leather between that and the thicker wheels smooth leather.

    There is a difference in the quality and thickness of the leather, but its not 3 times better unlike the price, in my opinion.

    Still, if you have FULL leather, would be a shame not to. But I bet this more expensive option is a massive margin improver for Porsche AG.

    The smooth one with stitching is the "thicker sport wheel" and is "worth it" as it is the only thing in the car that my skin touches at all times. So, I wanted something that feels good (it does) and fits in my hand (it does, better than standard sport).

    100%. If you're going to spend $800 for an option this is the best pick, a must have imo. Everday I'm driving and grabbing the thing saying - yes! YES ~! Feels ssssoo damn good !! Yumm !!

    Thicker wheel worth 5 times the price.

    If you've read many of Stradale's post, you know he will recommend a microfiber towel from Griot's Garage for practically all Porsche related applications. But I don't know if he was thinking about this one in particular...

    Fortunately, the dealer had a demo car with it in the show room. I would never have thought about that option otherwise. Granted the price seems to be a rip-off, but I completely agree with vtach88 and Stradale on that point, it is worth it. It just feels so good.
