Lucky Devil RC...What colour are you going for? When's your due date? My friend just ordered a Turbo S Cab - it's due at the END of 06.

stradale, no information is availible yet, so specing would be impossible.
traditionally the Turbo S comes at the end of the model cycle, note; 993 turbo S in 96-97, 996 in 05.
but with the 997, they may just be crazy enough? to release S and base at the same time like with the other models.
who knows.
my only concern is that the 997 edition be 'special' like the 993 was, and not just clever (?) parts bin fiddling and rebadging like the 996 edition was.

Moog, get w/the program, man 
.....the world has changed....time gap btwn Germany and US intro, coupe vs cab intro, etc has compressed dramatically in the modern era vs model cycles of yesteryr.....there's this little car co in Italy that's whipping out new models in lightning-fast mode 
.....and I suspect 997TTS is quite a bit more profitable than 997TT 
....

How can you put an order on a car which does not have a spec nor options nor price defined? You mean you have put some money down and got a reserved place in the queue? When, eventually, Porsche officially releases the options you will spec your car and order it? Sorry, just a bit confused how this works.

It's putting down a deposit at your dealer in order to be THE FIRST to get one.
NEVERTHELESS, CONGRATS RC with your order, I hope you get the first one and that it'll be A VERY SPECIAL CAR like the 993 Turbo S was, like Moogle said (once again), MAYBE A LIMITED EDITION !!

Normally you can place an option and not an order.
I was thinking about a 997 tt and my dealer told me he has a contigent of n cars. So I can place an option (which means I can buy the car but I can also leave it), this is something like a reservation.
An order you can only place when the official price list is there. What would you order then? A rumour?
An order is a contract between to parties and in the contract it must be clear what do you order for what price.
