Re: I was driving my C2S Cab today and ....

Dont know if the list is out of date, but the Carerra GT has the record for a production car clocking in at 7:32.44.

Interesting that the Carerra GT driver, Horst von Saurma (editor of a German auto mag) also managed to drag a Honda Civic Type R around in 8:47 ahead of a 993 RS at 8:49.

No way, check out the longitudinal claw marks!

Oversteer would have left lateral or diagonal claw marks.

Re: I was driving my C2S Cab today and ....

The internet is full of BS and I did find that 8.13 time but I got to admit I thought that seemed a bit sluggish after taking into consideration power set up etc etc . If I had to guess , it would of been around the 8 min mark ..

    JMO..

Perhaps those amazing BMW brakes faded a bit (but, hey, BMW isn't trying to rip off its frugal customers w/$10-15K ceramic brakes, right )? Or did the 500hp button not work right (trying to maximize MPG&range out of that small gas tank again )? Which excuse would BMW claim?

They'd probably claim that the driver had to take it easy out of consideration for a Beagle in the back.

Now, if he'd had Bangle in the back, we'd be looking at a 7'30" time!

The internet is full of bogus ring lap times, most of them are simply not full laps times with an altered start or finish line, or are optimistically guestimated times after what the driver thinks traffic has slowed him down, etc.

Saurma did an 8:13 with the M5 and thats the only time we can go by, and should only be compared to the other Saurma times of other sportcars.

7:52?... I don't think so, not even with a JATO rocket up its arse

thanks for clearing that up for me carlos i'm also pretty sure the m5's brakes started to fade and thus led to a slower lap time than the 997 C2S

Given the pic of that mutt in the back seat reacting to spirited driving, I now understand why cos. offer brown (sorry, cocoa) leather....

Bimmer shouldn't be too concerned w/N-ring times....F's ain't that remarkable at the N-ring either ......only problem is most serial new F buyers in US seem to favor Merc SL/CL/S55/65 as commuter cars......I guess if BMW had a similarly deep-pocketed buyer base it wouldn't be pricing the M5 at a $10K disct to the lowly E55....

    M5 = 7.52 ..

    Its useful .

No way the M5 does it in 7.52, that's just not possible, an M5 cannot be almost as fast as a gt3-rs on a track with that much bends!!
I don't want to start the same discussion as the one about corvette, I just don't think it is possible.

    Greets

Exactly and thats why I went searching , just curious of track times after the 430 / M5 issue ..

I thought the time would be useful but not that useful..

7.52 , I wonder if he was smoking a pipe as well..

    throt..

    Never.... That just cant be.
Like said above, thats GT3rs territory. Thats impossible

Re: I was driving my C2S Cab today and ....

A recent article in the BMW magazine said the new M5 managed "Just under 8 seconds" at the ring...

    7:52 is impossible IMO

Re: I was driving my C2S Cab today and ....

8 seconds , we thought it was quick .

No I do think 7mins 52secs is well possible..

    throt..
