    is this normal?? the dealer thinks so

    hello everyone,
    i was wondering if anyone of you hears a dull noise, kind of like two pieces of plastic rubbing against each other, when you crank your steering wheel. i hear it whenever i crank it to the left from center for the first 45 degrees or so and the dealer says it's normal because of the power steering. i find that hard to believe but they said there is no fix to it. so i just want to make sure they aren't BSing me. thanks in advance fellas.

    I haven't noticed that one. The dealer is blowing you off a bit IMO.

    First line of defense when they don't know what the problem is: they to try to blow you off if they think they have a reasonable chance that they'll be successful.

    i have the exact same thing, when cranking the steering wheel the first 45 degrees left or right! i first heard it when parking in my garage and i thought it was just the wheels turning on the floor while the car was standing still. but figured out that is not the case. the noise comes from somewhere under the front hood and you can even feel it a little bit in the steering wheel. have not talked to my dealer yet. wonder if it could be the adaptive steering

    I've heard the same noise while parking or reversing in my Cayenne S, as well as BMW (wheel must be turned). Porsche reps told me that it is normal... Hasn't been an issue other than the noise itself.
