I think that would be a fun vehicle for me to buy for European delivery (to make treks into the Alps to fly my model gliders). But, I think if they make any for US market, they will come from Argentina or other (Nissan and Renault) factories that would make Stuttgart delivery impossible...

Ferdie:From what I´ve heard so far, the car is not intended for sale in North America. It´s based on a Nissan chassis (ladder-frame) but equipped with Mercedes´ engines.
I heard that the US is not a part of the initial sales plan, but that it could be included in the near future. Do you think not? The US is the world's largest consumer of pickup trucks, afaik...

Supposedly the car is too small to compete in North America, according to the statement from Mercedes´ PR department. Judging by the pictures with people standing next to it, I actually doubt that. On the other hand, VW was hesitant to sell the Amarok in NA either and I assume it is simply to expensive to build in comparison to local competitors. That is, apart from the import taxation.
Seems similar in size to this Nissan (sold in US):

Gladstone:The Nissan is assembled in the US otherwise there is a 25% import tax on small trucks.
Guess Euro Delivery is out of the question for pickups...

Kind of interesting, but it will have some of the hardest competition. An F150 will do circles around it

I dunno, hard to beat this..
I know for a fact that the Benz will not live up to this one... There is simply no way. It'll be based on a Nissan/Renault chasis? So years behind on this.

This one looks like 3 generations older. If this is the hardes competition than the MB truck is a pure winner!

where do people use more trucks like this?, farmers, guys leaving around rocky mountains and builders/construction sites. out of these, just builders/Boss might take it,but how many percent?I know some use regular ML,but the rest use some sort of truck, either GM/DUDGE OR FORD. Design wise?, who cares as long as its cheap to maintain and do the job

This is true, but it is also important that these farmers, builders etc are among the most brand-loyal buyers in the industry, typically staying, for example, "a Dodge Ram guy for life...". This is why Toyota and Nissan have made only small inroads to NA pickup sales after many years of trying. No wonder Mercedes will keep it non-NA.

A couple million pickups get sold every year in the US, I think Mercedes could easily convert enough at the top end of that market to make this a huge hit. I think it's also a mistake to think pickups are purely work vehicles, think boats, personal watercraft, campers etc. Also many successful developers I know also have several non American cars as their non work vehicles so they can appreciate Mercedes quality. Sad if it's true that it won't be coming to the US, that's a mistake in my opinion.
