    My first Porsche is on order!! (987S) took the plunge!!

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for everyone's help and useful info on this board. Yesterday I went to the local Porsche dealer in Toronto and placed an order for an 06 987S , October production. Everything is signed but I guess I have a few days to change spec if I want.
    This is what I've ordered,

    06 987S
    Metallic Seal Grey Exterior (still in limbo between Seal Grey and Arctic)
    Black top
    Standard Black leather interior
    Heated Seats
    Windstop
    Sport steering wheel
    Sport shifter (thanks for everyone's input on this)

    Didn't want to add any other items as I had initially started the thought process with base 987 but when I drove the "S" I had to have it so decided on 987S with minimal options. I should have the car mid to end of November!! (guess I'll have to put on winters though shortly after)

    So the waiting begins!!

    P.S My only concern with Seal Grey is the extra care and maintenance it may require compared with Arctic. (my current car is light silver and so easy to take care of) - any feedback ; I know black is probably most labour intenstive; how would SG compare with Arctic? Pics of Seal Grey and Arctic 987s with top up please?

    Cool! Congratulations. Good move on stretching to the 'S with minimal options. You do much better that way then loading up a base Boxster.

    Where are you buying from? Pfaff?

    As far as colour goes, I think you will find Seal Grey pretty easy to care for too. Choose the one you like most.

    Yup, from Pfaff. Pretty decent experience, I suppose they want repeat business, referals, etc. I'm leaning towards Seal Grey ; I'll finalize probably by the weekend. I just found Downtown Porsche a little stuffy. Plus, apparently Pfaff sells 1/4 of all Porsche cars in ALL of Canada. Hard to believe but that's what the dealer told me. They sell in 2 months what Ottawa sells the whole year!

    P.S Do you guys think Seal Grey is trendy and will fall out of fashion (ie, like white Porsches in the 80's) or do you consider it a classic Porsche colour.

    Try taking care of a black car - extremely difficult!

    I would go with Atlas or seal over the arctic - I know classic Porsche is silver/terracotta but there are just too many Silver Boxsters on the road IMHO, and way too many silver cars in general.

    Nice spec - my car has the sport steering wheel as well, I placed pictures up if you wanna see how it looks. Oh and congrats!

    That's a really good spec. You really don't need anything else. Seal is a doddle to maintain, possibly even easier than arctic as it hides grime well.

    I think you'll find Seal very easy to live with.

    Looks very good, and agree with the other comments that you should go with the colour YOU like best. Forget about maintenance and resale, sportcars are bought with the heart, enjoy it.

    If I should add two thing to your list it would Navigation and carrera S or sportdesign wheels. Since I have had the navi in my car I would not live without it, and the wheels add a new dimension to the car.

    Well said! I would go with the Carrera Classics (like on my car) - they look VERY elegant and are much easier to clean than the SportDesign wheels. I break my back trying to clean 5 spokes just imagine the sport designs...

    Keep yourself busy during the wait, it's not uncommon to get frustrated while waiting

    Congrats on your first Porsche order. I hope the wait isn't too hard to take.
    I think Pfaff is a great dealership, and I'd say you made the right decision choosing to go with them.

    Congrats! You'll love the seal. I second wtsnet's comments. It hardly shows the dirt. Plus, sometimes it looks gray, other times slightly blue in the sun. It's a great color. Good luck!

    Grats on your order. I think it's a good decision to get the S instead of a loaded base Boxster.

    I concur - it's so good I bought it twice! Had it on my 986, now got it on my 987 - not being boring,jut a fantastic colour (and hides the dirt/chips well!) Enjoy it...

    My 987 is Seal and my daily driver Saab is silver - I would say there is little if any difference between the way dirt shows on the two of them - I've been real happy with Seal so stick with that would be my recommendation.

    Yeah, I think you made a good choice with Pfaff. I'm there quite freqently buying parts for my project and the staff is very helpful and respectful.

    You're gonna love your Boxster!
