    Can anyone explain the chassis improvements over the

    996, besides PASM?

    I have a 996 GT3, and was wondering what fundamental changes happened with 997 chassis that will make the 997 GT3 that much better.

    I've driven a PASM 997S and think it a wonderful car. . .it has a certain 'glued to the road' feeling that the 996 doesn't seem to have. I'm hoping for this improvement in feel in the upcoming 997 GT3, and that the chassis is that much more evolved

    All I know is that the chasis has been stiffened, the suspension geometry has been improved, and the steering has changed to the variable ratio steering, though don't specifically how those things have been improved, but my sport chasis optioned 997S is miles away in handling from my sport chasis optioned 996C4, more so that what I expected.

    Frayed, the biggest suspension improvement for the 997GT3 from the 996GT3 (other than some more PASM type adjustable firmness) will be the adoption of the suspension geometry of the 996GT3RS. This was supposed to give much better handling with improved turn-in.

    Interesting. We will get RS geometry components on the 997 GT3? First I heard of that. If that's the case, it would seem that us 996 GT3 owners could retrofit the RS components to get better suspension geometry.

    Jeff - You can already retrofit RS components to your GT3, but it's pricey. See, Suspension, 996, GT3 Rennsports suspension:

    This package comes with every part needed to change the suspension of the '04-'05 GT3 into the suspension of the '04GT3Rennsport.
