When the young one meet the old one...

    Hi,

I attended a Porsche meeting this Saturday in Switzerland. There was more than 40 cars and, in particular, almost each generation of 911 was present. In particular, my 997 had the chance to exchange a few words with her grand mother the 911 2.4S.

Pics are from my friend Lorenzo who is the happy owner of the superb 996 4S you can see below.

    Enjoy !

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

I love those new and old side by side pictures! thanks Nico

Bottom picture, Black 911 at the front. What is it and can I swap a kidney for one?

    993 GT2 I think

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

    Beautiful photos, Nico. Thank You!

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Indeed looks like a "993 GT".

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

As far as I remember the explanation I have been given, it is a 993 RS that has been transformed into a 993 GT2 in by Porsche directly. Engine power is 540 HP.

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Nice to see the 997 in the classic 911 form ... that side by side would have not looked as good with the 996 .... getting the 997 back to true 911 form ( headlight interior etc ) was the best move Porsche could make to get their customers and new ones back . ( now they need a signature wheels again )

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Brilliant shots Nico. Thanks for posting.
    The classic 911 is sweet.
Where was that and who organized it?

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Thanks a lot for the pics. I love seeing modern and classic Porsches together.

    Hi Matt,

This was organized by a team of very nice persons (Porsche fans of course) in the Geneva-Lausanne-Fribourg-Sion area. More informal meetings are organized on a regular basis. Where are you located ? You would obviously be very welcomed.

BTW, that meeting was in the Gruyère-Jaun-Gstaad-Diablerets region.

    Cheers,

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

    super swiss pics Nico997~~
    i love the compare/contrast of old/new 911...

was this near Montreux from Lausanne??

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

I love those 2.4L, they will always look exclusive......

    Very nice pics

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

    Nico,
Thanks for the photos. I owned a '71 S a look time ago. It would be interesting to drive and compare. But I think the fond memmories are best left the way they are.

993 GT2, RWD, twin turbo, 450 hp, and it'll cost you both kidneys.

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Thanks for the pix. They brought back fond memories of my '73 911S. As I recall the rev limit was 7800 RPM and with a, what was then a sport exhaust would wake up the entire area when redlining through the gears. What a great motorcar..........then and the 997S now.

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

    I used to have a 73 911S 2.4 - great cars!!!!

Redline was actually 7,300rpm (but it may have sounded like 7800 with the awesome mechanical fuel injection )

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Thanks, Nico- a great setting for those awesome cars!

I'm in the eastern part of Switzerland. Would love to join some time but I'm afraid my french is nowhere near "small-talk"-level. However, let me know if you should ever happen to be in this part of the country and have time for a coffee.

Re: When the young one meet the old one...

Beautiful comparision shots. I almost got tears in my eyes.

Nico, thank you for posting them.
