    Ron, are you kidding?

Porsche has given the world four incredibly iconic shapes which are the most loved and enduring in all of automotive history:

    The 356.
    The 550 Spyder.
The 911 and forty years of improvements.
    And the Carrera GT.

What would great design look like to you?

I agree and would add the 904 also...

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Awesome find Ron, you also made my day

And great job as usual CFS

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Oh, I didn't even get started on the racing line up!

    904, 917, 962?

Oh, I know, but the 904 was a street car and a racer (the last one)

904 is my favorite of all time

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    And the front:

    997TT spy shots Observations

Look at this older spy shot, there is a piece of camo covering the front part of the car which leads up to the lights, which starts from where I drew the green circle. Now, the new spyshot doesn't have this camo and has conspicuously smaller lights which gives the VW Bug impression. So I think that Porsche made the front slant down a little à la 993 in order to remove those headlight rings.

I also don't think the 997tt will resemble a VWBug once the white tape around the lights is removed, the tape makes the lights look much too small.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

The wheels are butt ugly, and from the overall look, it would be better money spent ona a 996TT. How disapointing....We'll see at Frankfurt...

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

I'm not too impressed with the spy shot car but I love Carlos's touch up photo, especially the rear end with the the rather large tires. Hopefully they need the meat on the ground to control 525 BHP.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    Thanks a lot Ron!

I believe most will love the final product!

The 997 style is beautiful- very hard to improve upon,IMO. I LOVE the headlights too!

Well, ok I do like every single one that you mentioned . I guess I shall say I was mostly refering to the 997 line that wasn't a radical desgin like 993 -> 996. But again I'm getting to like the 997 too the more I see it the more It impresses me.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

My only disappointment so far from the strip tease (less camo. with some remaining) is the latest intakes behind the doors-prior test mules had taller slit-like intakes same height as the doors, more recent ones have the pseudo-986 look with horizontal slats and are only about half door-height. I notice there is a body panel piece with easily seen seams for the panel inserts for the intakes-here's hoping that's still camo. . . .

I actually like the front hood and headlights ("classic" 911/993-sort of), and I still wonder if the busy nose is still busy due to the camo. RC said the 997TT would look like a 996TT with a 997 nose and headlight assembly-so this latest spyshot shouldn't surprise rennteamers. I'm not concerned about the wheels-the final can be completely divergent from the test mules' rims, plus there likely will be optional wheels (I like my 996TSCab turbo wheels and wouldn't mind seeing them on the 997TT).

The exhaust is similar to the 996TT. I'm also not worked up over the foglight setup. And if the performance is just a little better than the 996TT's, this car will still ROCK, and many critics here I suspect will stay in (or get in) line. If everyone wants a turbo with "sharper" lines, then pull an nberry and pick up an F-car (not a bad fallback option IMO).

Yeah Ron, it's the 1st car I feel in love with as a kid!

If the headlights do turn out to be so VW Beetle-like, I'll have to go to VW dealer to buy one of those flower vases to put in the cupholders of the 997TT to fully complete the look .....997TT will need to crush 430 (and 996TTS w/X73)on N-ring to justify that VW-imitation front-end....

997 Porsche headlights are not "VW like" rather VW Headlights are Porsche like.

But really, these headlights are everywhere; the new Thunderbird, the last E series Mercedes, the Mini. It's a nice design and I like it's implementation on all the cars I mentioned. But, they do all look different, just like the New Beetle and 997 look different. Why these two became associated with one another, I don't know.

Fair points, guys. Given that IMO CGT is more attractively styled than Enzo, gotta give P a chance to unveil the 997TTS before drawing conclusions....just hope P imparts a few CGT-design themes in 997TTS, esp the headlights. And, given that 997TTS will undoubtedly set the new N-ring benchmark in the sports/GT class, will have to get a 997TTS no matter the styling....

I agree. I remember being blown away when I first saw the 964 and again when I first saw the 993. Not at all when I saw the 996. I like the 997 more with each look.

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

Looks more and more like the 993 Turbo, particularly the new Turbo spoiler.....very 993

    Re: New 997TT spy shots

    The 993 looked better.

Can someone please tell me that the Boxsteresque side vent is NOT going to make it on the production version?!? Please... anyone?
