    997 Aerokit/GT3 concerns

    I'm keenly interested in the upcoming GT3, but as a current owner of a 996 GT3 I'll sit tight and wait until I can drive one.

    Anyway, I was checking out 997 aerokit at my local dealer's showroom. As many know, the GT3 is height challenged, making ingress and egress in certain situations difficult, impossible, and often accompanied by nasty grinding sounds. Well, I measured the clearance on the 997S, and it's exactly the same as my GT3, 5".

    Whooboy, does that mean the 997 GT3 will be, like, another inch lower? If so, I'm not sure I'll be able to live with that.

    In addition, on the 996 GT3, the front lip is not painted, and fairly inexpensive to replace when needed. The 997 aero lip is painted. . . definitely not desirable.

    Thoughts?

    The problem is not so much how low it is but the shape of the front lip, or fowardmost bottom part of the bumper. And thats the problem of the 996 Aerokit/GT3 and seems like even worse in the 997 aerokit. It comes down so much and so much to the tip of the bumper that it really complicates the clearance when arracking an incline. I found this to affect clearance much more than ride height.

    The bottom part of the stock bumper of the 997S is angled backward and the chip or lip is placed "under" the bumper, not at the front so I have found that even with the -20mm suspension it has an incredilble clearance, I can go anywere, wereas with my previous 996 with aerokit and -10mm M030 sport suspension I was prohibited from many garages and so on.

    The lip on the 997S aerokit/GT3 is even worse and its painted like you say. Though I have seen black plastic ones which may be a good idea to have instead.

    I believe the original ground clearance is about 7.5" for a 997S with PASM. The aerokit will 'lower' it by another 2.5" with only 5" to clear...that's scary. I wonder if the clips for the front lip will hold tight if you hear the grindings and scrapings whilst negotiating a ramp or hump
