    Panamera article in AutoBild

    FYI there's a new article (with CGI-visuals) on the new Panamera.
    Dont have time to scan, but it looks very very nice IMO.
    Quick facts/rumors:
    * Start 2009
    * Start price appr. 79.000 Euro
    * production 20.000 units per year
    * Front engine with RWD
    * Modified V8 engine from Cayenne boosted to 5.0 l and 550 bhp
    * Modified V10 from CGT from 5.7 to 6.5 litres plus biturbo delivering 700bhp
    * Tiptronic/autotranny included in plans

    Where do I sign up?
    Can anyone donate 150,000 Euro to my needy account?

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    thanks for the info, finally some information that sounds somewhat realistic.. althought I'm not all that certain about the power figures, haven't we soon reached a point where even more power will only make the car "handle" worse. The 65's need of traction control to keep it straight up to 100km/h ++ is what I have in mind. Sure it's fun to have the most powerful car out there, but isn't it nice to be able to accelerate without electronics overruling your decision all-of-the-time as well

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    Thanks a lot for the info.
    I was thinking of a price from about 80,000 Euro.
    That 700hp engine sounds insane. I know nothing like that has been confirmed yet, but it would be interesting to see what would be done to make the car would handle all that power.

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    By the time this car will hit the streets , my children will be too big to fit in the back seats of the 997.. but will I be ready to drive a 4 door????

    Never will they sell a 550hp car for only 80.000 Euros. That does not sound like Porsche pricing policy

    With a lot of BMW and MB execs joining the company you never know .

    I second that opinion.

    I really doubt we will see that either. I would guess that 80,000 Euro would be for a base n/a V8.

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    Everything adds up except the power figures unless this turns out be a very heavy automobile which the computer photos (quite nice) don't suggest. If it's below 100K USD figure around 400hp. I won't hazard a guess on the upper end given the horse race BMW and Mercedes are currently engaged and the inevitable effect it will have on Porsche to match credentials.

    I first thought so too, but then you realise that the power figures are most likely just estimates of what power will be likely in 2009. For today, a 400 hp n/a engine at 80 000 to compete with the upcoming 367 hp merc e/csl 500 and 360 hp BMW 550 would be the most likely thing. In 2009, they might actually need all 550.

    Although I still consider engine power specs at this stage pure speculation, it's quite fun to "design" ones own idea of the Panamera while one can

    That's an interesting point of view.
    I still can't see 550hp in a base model, even in '09, but I could easily be wrong (I hope I am). I would expect/hope for around 400+ for a base model.
    Even though this is all speculation, I can't remember the last time I was so excited about the introduction of a sedan. I for one will be counting down the days until 2009.

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    Where are all those guys who said I was wrong to suggest they'd use the V-10 from the CGT? There were so many reasons listed why it couldn't be done. I'd think the idea of designing an engine and only amortizing the cost over 1000 CGT's is a manufacturer's nightmare. Selling it as a big dollar option on the Panamera makes a lot of sense.

    Re: Panamera article in AutoBild

    It's stunning to look at. I will be signing up for one of these babies (assuming they are accurate CGI's)... Can't see the stock going for anything less than $100 US with a Panamera S or Panemera Turbo rising upto $120 - $140.
