Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

That's what I have (didn't have a choice) - I actually like them - and think they should be standard. I've forgotten what the standard ones look like. Anybody have a pic of the "standard" ones?

    As per your request

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

yes... I remember those. Thanks MMD!

    My pleasure.

BTW, I'm kinda starting to think the SS ones are reeeeeeeealy nice.

I wonder about scratches though. Brushed SS is impossible to remove scratches from. I know MY side won't have any scratches but my passengers' side? Ugh! Just think un-nice they might look with a few crummy scratches.

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

Funny you bring that up, MMD. My dealer purposefully kept a thin layer of protective plastic (think clear bra for the entry guard SS) on the passenger entry side, and not the driver side. I had the same thought as you, and haven't removed that plastic yet!
    Sometimes, we're plain crazy, huh?!

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

Stainless steel door sills are one of the cheapest options for the 997, but at the same time one of the most important.

    Just my 02 cent.

    Are yours scrached?

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

Should've gotten that... mine already has some scratches

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

I agree, one of the most important options... I love looking down at that every time I get in, just oozes class IMHO... almost sends shivers down my spine, realizing I actually own a "Carrera S"! I have also schooled my kids (ages 9 and 11) to STEP OVER the entire door sill area.. I received a small super fine scrub pad from my dealer, who informed me that it will take out any scratches on the sill... anybody else get one? I don't have any scratches yet, but would probably be a little hesitant to use it

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

There on my spec and should be , its a well used area and prone to scratches so many people dont lift there legs they just drag them across ..

    throt...

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

..dont' know what to do... it looks realy good, but I don't want it full of scratches. Shall I delete it from my order or keep it?

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

Is it illuminated like those on the Cayennes?

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

I think it looks nice... esp in MMD's pics.

No. It's just plain stainless steel.

For about $100 (both sides) you can totally protect that area. The door entry guards do not protect the part most likely to get deeply scratched from someone foot. I have 3M installed on this area in the pic. (white lines). Been doing the same install with every new car I buy.

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?

greggr107: Yes, I also received a small tool to polish the entry guards. I don't remember where I put it, though!

Avant: NO they aren't illuminated BUT, if you notice... the map lights (which come on when you open the door) illuminate the "PORSCHE" stiched in your floor mats (try it in a dark garage). Nice touch.

I ordered the stainless steel entry guards in my '97 Boxster and they still look great. I ordered them on my 997 S. WHICH I PICK UP IN 2 HOURS

Re: Door entry guard in stainless steel - pics?
