GT3 RS vs '86 Formula Ford!
I was going for my racing license on the weekend (circuit license at speed). Anway, there was a huge variety of cars going for their license. This made it pretty scary for myself, b/c i was in a leased '86 Van Diemen Formula Ford. One of the other cars was a month old GT3 RS (white/red).
Summary of observations:
The GT3 RS could start about 200m behind me on the 1.1km straight, and we would go into the breaking area at about the same time! Amazing acceleration!
Breaking was about the same.
Mid corner speed was better in the Formula Ford...but not as much as what you would think. The GT3 RS really surprised me here!
There was one situation in the reverse grid race (starting from the pit lane), where coming into corner one after a 1.1km straight, we were four abreast! Very scary when most of the other 'tin-top' cars can't see you cause of how low the formula ford is to the ground.
The Driver of the GT3 RS was probably at about the same standard as myself. So it was good to see how differently the cars behaved.
Anyway...just wanted to share my experience. I doubt many people get to share the road with an open wheeler! (they only do it here for license testing purposes - Test days etc. are usually split up into open wheelers/bikes/tin tops etc.)
