You might be right, but have you ever seen footage from the Formula One races there in the 70's? Those cars used to get ALOT of air, even with large front and rear wings. I watched Jackie Stewart go flying through the air while he destroyed the field in some old footage recently - very cool!!!
The track has been modified repeatedly, especially the parts where the car gets airborne have been massively been reduced or ironed out. In fact this changed some parts of the track.
I would be surprised if Röhrl's time of 7:43 min is for the RS, I would rather assume that it was a GT3 CS (Clubsport).
Why? Even v. Saurma (I guess everybody knows him on this thread by now
) did a 7:44 and Luhr did the above mentioned /.47 in a std. GT3!
