    TPM w/ after-market wheels

    Does anyone know if the Tire Presure Monitor System works with non OEM wheels? I am buying Champion RS98's for my 'S'.

    What does Champion say? I've checked with TechArt and Ruf. TechArt's wheels will work with Porsche's TPMS but Ruf's wheels will not (for now).

    All I know is what I heard, the transmitter is very small and sticks with double stick tape to the outermost part of the rim of the wheel (inside of course). So there seems to be cause for optimism about transplanting them to your new wheels.

    There should be no problem using TPMS with non OEM wheels.
    The Porsche transmiters attach to the valve stem.

    I wonder how much the TMPS complicates thing when getting the tires replaced for new ones? or is it simple?

    we replaced the tires on our Touareg and it has TPMS(obviously not exactlty the same as a porsche) but it worked fine, they put new tires on like any normal car and the system still works fine

    Mike, did you take it to the dealer to replace the tires? or was it an independant shop?

    Thanks for that great picture Mike. An earlier post made it sound like the gizmo was outside the tire.

    Guy's,

    Thanks for all the great info. I plan on using my Carrera Classic II wheels for track duty with Club Sports. Looks like I will need to purchase an extra set of sensors to make the TPM function with two sets of wheels. Is it that simple? Any idea of cost for a set of sensors?

    Actually, TPMS in Touareg and at least the Cayenne are pretty much the same. Same TPMS control unit and same software. It is just configured differently to support one of the 4 different TPMS user menues in the two cars
