06 Touareg gets new engine...what about V6 Cayenne?
While googling about the 06 Touareg I came across an unformatted document from media.vw.com. It claims to summarize all the changes to VW's 06 lineup. I've added the part about the Touareg below, since I imagine if VW offers a new engine, Porsche will eventually have to keep up.
2006 VOLKSWAGEN CHANGE POINTS
2006 Touareg
- New standard engine: 3.6L VR6 with direct injection with 276 hp, a 36 hp increase over the previous VR6. (Delayed introduction)
- Rear view camera and auxiliary multimedia connector now comes with navigation system
- 115V outlet in cargo area replaces 12V outlet
- Roof rack now becomes an accessory
- Servotronic steering becomes standard on 3.6 VR6 and V8
- Chrome replaces wood trim on transmission shift lever
- "Tuft" carpeting replaces "Perlvelour"
Anyway, I know most rennteamers aren't into the V6 Cayenne, but I thought this might be of interest. I suspect that the "delayed introduction" above may be to coincide with the Cayenne facelift for MY'07. And although I didn't post it here, the same document says the Passat will be getting a 3.6L V6 but won't be introduced until the 4th quarter of '06. So maybe that's when the Touareg engine will be available too. Anyone else care to speculate?
