    clear bra in Stuttgart for european delivery

    I want to take european delivery of 997 C4S cab at the factory ... I have done this twice and both times put more 3000 miles on the cars while over there .... an 89 speedster in 90 and a 993 C4 cab in 96 . Back then there was no such thing as a clear bra and I did not use a regular bra , both trips the front of the car got many rock chips on the front as I was driving at very high speeds all over Europe . This trip I want to put a clear bra on when I take delivery of the car . I put one on my 99 C4 cab I took delivery on in LA and the front end stayed perfect until the day I sold it . Do you know of anyone in Stuttgart that can install it when I pick the car up or do you know anyone here good that would fly over and do it for me for a good price . Doing european delivery is some of the most fun I have ever had in my life and the only real chance you have to drive on roads with no speed limits . To be able to drive the car on the open highway the way it is meant to be driven is a priceless experience but I do not want to destroy the paint like I did on the last two trips.

    Thanks a lot for posting this question- I'm in the same boat as you and have been thinking of the very same thing! I still have a bit of time( next year)- but I was about to start researching this option.

    It is hard to believe that clear bra's are not popular in Europe .. I can remember the last european delivery I did ... I had just left the factory after the tour and lunch thing .... I hit the autobahn and headed for Neubering I had only been driving for about an hour and pulled over for gas ... as I got out I saw a nice big rock chip down to the metal about an inch from the hood emblem I was kind of sad . When I turned the car in at the factory it was late at night and the car which was black in the florescent lights at the factory reveled a front end that had many many chips ( I think the paint also chip easier when it is new ) After two weeks and 3000 miles of driving all over Europe it was hammered . I said I would never do it again but the trip was too much fun it is time to do it again . When the car is broken in and your doing 150 + on the autobahn anything that hits the car at that speed takes its toll on the fresh paint .

    Again driving the cars in europe on the autobahn is just an experience we never get over here . There is a lot of traffic but on those mornings when it is open highway with next to no-one on the road and the car is broken in it is complete nirvana . I see many people who do European delivery and only put a few hundred miles on the car ... I must say it is really only after about a week to 10 days and after the car is broken in and you really start to feel comfortable with the roads there and the car that things really start to get interesting .

    I sent an email to my best friend in Suttgart. He's an automotive consultant. Give me a day or so to get a response. Okay?

    If it turns out none is available, don't worry because the roads there are excellent. I never got any stone damage on my RX-7 there from the Low Countries to the Czech Republic, but I killed a lot of bugs. Wish our roads were that good!

    I would' nt put a clear bra on mine.....never even came to my mind and I must say, I never saw any in this country!

    It is quite popular here in the UK - usually using either armourfend or paintshield. You can contact the manufacturers of paintshield at the following web address and they will tell you nearest fitter:

    I think your best bet is just buy a bra for use over there. Who knows what kind of install you'd get on a clear. Maybe you two could split the cost of one somehow and share it for Euro delivery driving.

    I got a clear bra installed at the Porsche Center in Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen. They don't do it themselves, but have someone that does it in their garage. Problem was, that since I took factory delivery, they couldn't install it before delivery. They do a custom install and don't use 3M. I got the front bumper, 1/3 hood, 1/3 front fenders, rear inner parts of all fenders, mirrors, front part of door entries sills for a little less than 700 Euro. They would also do the front lights, but that's illegal in Germany and I also think that it hinderes light emission. So I passed on that one. The install takes 4-5 hours.
    Up to now I'm not completely satisfied with the install. The film they used (I don't know the brand) had material faults and I will get the hood and one fender redone for free, but the film on the mirrors doesn't look to well either. It is a problem with the consistency of the adhesive. I would have liked to get the 3M film. I know that Porsche used 3M on the rear fenders of the 993. And that is still perfect on my 993. The 3M obviously doesn't have the material problems, the film on my 997S has. Furthermore, it stood the test of time and didn't go yellow yet.
