I dunno, maybe he is afraid of dings on the doors and the side or the air intakes and everything. But still... why would anyone do that to a car like an Enzo? A car that expensive needs to be enjoyed. If the car gets a ding, oh well.. it has a ding- get it fixed or simply appreciate the ding in your enzo that you got as a result of driving it the way it should be driven. That whole targa thing is god awful, just though you guys should see it.
So far as the MC12... I don't really like the MC12 (it comes in one style- blue and white). I would get it resprayed to a gun metal silver or a black or something. Also, it has a rear wing that I don't like either. However, the fact that it is convertible is VERY attractive.

The owner has two sets of doors. One is modded as shown in the pics. It's his car so why shouldn't he do what he wants with it?

He changed NOTHING to the car ! just REPLACED the two doors, so why not ?? it's his car, that has nothing to do with "dumb", NOTHING !

I'm not too sure about that. Truly, if Ferrari could make a convertible enzo-- they would have engineered another car... but they did-- it's called the MC12.. it looks the same (however, I hate the blue and white paint job...but that can be fixed)... but it is MADE differently. The doors do provide structural rigidity. I believe that the guy could (and does) drive the Enzo down the road (b/c it has le mans style rigidity (huge carbon fiber and aluminum roll hoops that are in the windshield area as supporting structures and the rear area (as the rear is just the glass part/plastic ... (the best example is the Bentley closed prototype). However, I'm sure if the guy were to drive that car at speed (say 180)... he would encounter a LOT of problems do to the config of the doors and the wind. I could see the rear window blowing out and a host of other problems---- but it's his car. He paid the near a million price tag- he can do whatever he wants to it (aside from put spinners on it).

Regarding rigidity, I tend to agree with killer. If Ferrai could engineer the car to be as rigid without the roof as it is in its stock form, all Enzos would come with a targa roof. The center may still be there, but the sides are missing. The center of the roof will just twist along with the car. Not much better than simply making a cab

ehhh.. i dunno. I don't like how ferrari has the EVERYTHING on the outside of the cars completely the same body color (i.e. the headlight compartment is also body color instead of black or some other color). A straight BLACK MC12 or a red MC12... would be more up my alley. But the silver is different than the factory version. Sidenote- did anyone catch the 5th Gear where a guy who just purchased an MC12 (he also has an enzo and host of other ferrari's) crashed it in the snow on a track? That guy is a REAL owner of a supercar. The MC12 was dirty, on the way there he broke the windshield fluid cap.... scratched the paint. And he didn't really care-- simply because it is his car to have fun with...

Your best bet to see that episode is to goto the finalgear.com website. That site is devoted to the 5th gear and top gear tv shows and other shows and videos with exotics. Unfortunately, earlier this year they recieved a cease and desist order from the BBC (they used to host torret files of every top gear and every 5th gear episode ever made). They have catelogued every episode (I believe that the one with the MC12 being crashed into a wall in the snow is last seasons last episode... they have a list of all of the shows and details, it should say MC12 on it. If you join the board it will tell you how to download the torrent files of that episode that it does not host... someone else does.
