The prices are pretty similar, trust me I was thinking about it a lot. Rather getting something really exotic like a Lambo or Ferrari, but I already have a F430 Spider on order so I thought why not just get the most powerful(road legal in SA) production car. There are only 19 or so SL65's in the country and only 2 black ones(including mine
). So that's why I opted for the Merc. Might go look at the new revised Gallardo or AM next year.
btw did you only realise now what the 65 costs over here?

Yes... thats a huge ammount to pay for a Merc... 
I know its still very early, but how does that thing accelerate??? I'm guessing that with all that power, you wont have much trouble keeping up to a Gallardo, or maybe even a Murci???
How does it handle compared to the 55 + what do you think will be in front after a ride through some twisties... 65 or the CarreraS??

yeah it is a bit much for a merc, but the power is just incredible 
i killed a yamaha R6 two days ago in the 65
i read in an article: on a straight line the SL out-accelerates the Murcie and zonda to 250kph!! the carrera S should be quicker in twisties, as you don't need much power in turns. the handling is similar to the 55, as it's not heavier by much more. it's not totally run in yet only 804km's on the odometer.

Damn. That beast of yours must be [censored] fast...
I guess that means you have the fastest road legal, standard car over the 1/4mile + kilometre in SA.
I kinda get it know why that car is so pricey..
It must be a great feeling to know that when your driving around that there is virtually no other car that will beat you between the lights...
Be carefull though.. there are much cheaper cars that are modded that will eat even a car like yours for breakfast..

I think i heard/read about it somewhere. 1000hp and 1/4mile in 9.8 on a street legal Porsche. AMAZING.
