    CGX car nut:

Current emission control and particulate filters have reduced the amount of pollutants even for heavy-duty trucks.  No matter what, the socialistic left will find something else to ban.  Rail is even more efficient than OTR trucking and the United States is more efficient for freight rail service than the EU.

Yet it's not gone, and most trucks are out of tune so they emit even more than what they are rated for.

When I was going up and down I5 last week, highway patrol was stopping more trucks than speeding motorists.

Those are a whole another level of dirty. They use poor quality fuel around ports and cities and switch to the lowest quality fuel once in the open ocean.

In the US there are only 2 sides to choose from, bad and worse. Between Biden and Trump, Trump is the less evil and less sick of the two. This is not even counting their own party members. The left side of the isle literally are filled with crazies, AOC, Warren, Pelosi, etc.

Yeah, it's literally a choice on how one wants to die, death by fire or by 1000 cuts.

    Re: Tesla

Evil? Trump isn’t evil, he is sick. I always wonder why people make fun of Biden’s slow walking/moving (which from a medical point of view has NOTHING to do with senility 🤷🏻‍♂️) but they ignore Trump’s personality disorder, which is classified as a mental illness in the DSM-5.

I support the Republicans, not Trump. Big difference.

I understand why populism is on the rise worldwide and why people started to distrust politicians and the media but this is nothing new in the modern history of humanity but what is new is the massive disinformation campaign through social media and what worries me most is that even well educated and highly intelligent people started to fall for this crap because it either fits their world view/worries or they are just fed up with fact checking everything (not easy but still doable if someone really wants to…).

I said it for Germany and I say it for the US: Maybe it is time for a new party which actually has conservative and traditional values without demonizing people who choose to live different, who choose to have control over their own body and who accept immigration but a controlled one. I cannot identify with racism, profanity and lies. Sorry.

I am and have been a republican all my life, and I just can't believe educated intelligent people can support someone like Trump, and not see it. It's incomprehensible how he can fool anybody.

And the world is at a very complicated point in time where the stakes are high for important decisions to be in the hands of a pathological narcissist with a remarkable lack of knowledge for his job description... history is full of examples of what happens when this is the case.

    Re: Tesla

While pecking out the above, I received a mass email from our county councilwoman.  She is a Trump supporter so judge for yourself how backwards the typical Trump supporter is in the States.  Mass media isn’t your friend.

SO much is happening in Indiana and St. Joseph County, hard not to talk about it all the time.

Let's talk about why the Republican primary for governor matters. Let's look at it from the lens of climate change. Here's a recent story that ran in Indiana State Affairs:

‘A real positive step’: Why Indiana is creating a climate change plan now -- State Affairs.

This is not something the base of the party likes to read. That's because we know enough from experience that a plan like this will end up undermining Hoosier priorities. Unlike Europe, we don't want to race to net zero and wipe out our way of life in the process.

The base of the GOP in Indiana is no fan of Gov. Holcomb. And this new climate plan is one more reason why. Holcomb is no Republican. Whether its him participating in the World Economic Forum -- proclaiming his freedomless Covid policy -- or vetoing a bill to protect women's sports from transgender players, Holcomb's policies do not align with conservative values. The article linked above -- which involves Indiana taking Biden money to inflict damaging climate policy -- is one more reason why the Governor would receive a cold welcome at any St. Joseph County GOP meeting (especially in the future, when Eric closes all our coal plants and the heat only runs intermittently as the sun and wind hit).

The future of climate change policy in Indiana is one more reason we need to elect the right primary candidate for Indiana. The currently circulating gov list of candidates includes Sen. Mike Braun; former Attorney General Curtis Hill; Businessman Eric Doden, Lt Gov. Susan Crouch; and Brad Chambers. Among these candidates, I'm going to guess Chambers most mirrors Holcomb. He recently headed up Holcomb's economic development in the state. Holcomb loyalist and past GOP state chair Kyle Hupfer just joined the Chambers campaign.

As Europe falters under the weight of obscene climate policy that is collapsing Germany economically; eliminating Europeans' energy security; and threatening their wellbeing and future quality of life, Holcomb wants to instill some more of that in Indiana. He isn't acknowledging the warning signs -- isn't acknowledging the revolt from conservative Europeans leaders -- and maybe just doesn't care. Instead, Holcomb is working to develop a more intense net zero plan for Indiana, grabbing at multi-millions of dollars from Biden designed to bribe states like Indiana into jumping on the climate change train to first world destruction. It's so much money -- so much! -- and you watch as federal agenda manipulators use it to craft the future of Indiana and other states. Give them lots of money and they will map out their own demise.

In July, the Environmental Protection Agency awarded $3 million in planning grants to Indiana and several other states to kick off the process. States must be willing to target emissions in six areas, according to the EPA: electricity generation, industry, transportation, buildings, agriculture/natural and working lands and waste management. In addition to drafting climate action plans, Indiana will use the funding to create an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions. The state’s initial plan is due to the EPA by March, and then the long-term plan has a deadline in 2025. If successful, Indiana would gain access to an even greater pool of EPA money — all part of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program. More than $4 billion is available for distribution across the country following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act

Since I've been involved in local and state government, I've seen time and time again the use of state and federal grant money used by leftist agenda setters to bribe Republicans into implementing policy that actually undermines what conservatives want.

I don't want to end up like Germany. Germany is over reliant on outside energy sources (ie Russia, which means their natural gas supplies are now cut-off); and they've shuttered coal and nuclear. They have lots of wind and solar -- but recall that Germany, France and the UK all have had to restart coal when they ended up without enough heat and without enough AC. Regardless, here's the plan for America, specifically Indiana. Not only will your energy be in jeopardy -- and probably restricted (no AC for you!), your bills will skyrocket:

Yet even as interest grows among bipartisan officials to address climate change, it can be costly. New power plant rules proposed by the EPA, for example, would require states like Indiana to replace much of the state’s coal and gas power, which accounts for two-thirds of Indiana’s energy generation. New sources carry new costs, however, which are often passed along to Indiana customers. Energy demands, meanwhile, are expected to grow, requiring billions of dollars to construct new transmission lines, too.

Just so you realize, all these changes are not going to help with electric bills. Renewable solar and wind are certainly not going to make prices go down. Quite the opposite: Why Are Utilities So Expensive? | PragerU

Says one fan of Holcomb's new climate change program -- Sam Carpenter, executive director of Hoosier Enviornmental Council -- “It’s important for Hoosiers to show up now to say yes, there is an interest in this in our state,” Carpenter said. “We want to help guide the path that Indiana takes toward addressing climate change.”

I say it's more important for Hoosiers to show up and say no. And, that's something we make sure we hear from our Governor primary candidates.

A bit of updated disclosure from the 2023 Q3 10-Q filing with the SEC...  C7BEAB03-A272-4B0C-AF73-D01AEAA5AA36.gif

    Tesla 2023 Q3 - 10Q extract.png

    Certain Investigations and Other Matters

We receive requests for information from regulators and governmental authorities, such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, the SEC, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and various local, state, federal and international agencies. We routinely cooperate with such regulatory and governmental requests, including subpoenas, formal and informal requests and other investigations and inquiries.

For example, the SEC had issued subpoenas to Tesla in connection with Elon Musk’s prior statement that he was considering taking Tesla private. The take-private investigation was resolved and closed with a settlement entered into with the SEC in September 2018 and as further clarified in April 2019 in an amendment. The SEC also has periodically issued subpoenas to us seeking information on our governance processes around compliance with the SEC settlement, as amended.

Separately, the Company has received requests for information, including subpoenas, from the DOJ. These have included requests for documents related to Tesla’s Autopilot and FSD features. Additionally, the Company has received requests for information, including subpoenas from the DOJ, regarding certain matters associated with personal benefits, related parties, vehicle range and personnel decisions. To our knowledge no government agency in any ongoing investigation has concluded that any wrongdoing occurred. We cannot predict the outcome or impact of any ongoing matters. Should the government decide to pursue an enforcement action, there exists the possibility of a material adverse impact on our business, results of operation, prospects, cash flows, financial position or brand.

We are also subject to various other legal proceedings, risks and claims that arise from the normal course of business activities. For example, during the second quarter of 2023, a foreign news outlet reported that it obtained certain misappropriated data including, purportedly, among other things, non-public Tesla business and personal information. Tesla has made notifications to potentially affected individuals (current and former employees) and regulatory authorities and we are working with certain law enforcement and other authorities. On August 5, 2023, a putative class action was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, purportedly on behalf of all U.S. individuals impacted by the data incident, followed by several additional lawsuits, that each assert claims under various state laws and seeks monetary damages and other relief. If an unfavorable ruling or development were to occur in these or other possible legal proceedings, risks and claims, there exists the possibility of a material adverse impact on our business, results of operations, prospects, cash flows, financial position or brand.

...for customers and investors, the question is will there ultimately be an enforcement action? Smiley

Hertz's Tesla fleet are already one of their lowest rental fee options, yet still not too many are being rented. The general public simply do not trust the Teslas.

I kept an opened mind and tried, never again. I'd rather pay more for other cars.

The KIA EV6 however is a great Hertz rental, more expensive but much better car.

stunning analysis from a former intelligence pro who still can’t follow the money or see a PsyOp that has been running out in the open for 7 + years. So much has been learned nothing sinks in. At this point you must be in on the propaganda- the best always starts with ‘I used to support him but now…’.
Anyway, too strange to not get it by now but given the thread not surprised.
If Putins justice department was charging his main political opponent with this many bogus charges and the media playing along you would be laughing at anyone taking it seriously and defending it.
Lastly, perhaps it is the lack of German sense of humor and lack of a sarcasm bone which causes people to not understand American politics and the southern phrase ‘ bless your heart’.   For what it is worth my dad, who was occupied by the Russians for 7 years in Austria is trapped in the same eurozone news bubble.  Brain washing is a powerful thing.
Cheers to all. Back next year.

Tesla's been making bigger and bigger pieces of their car. Easy to manufacture and cheaper too, but when it comes to repairing afterwards, it's not easy to replace such big pieces. Cheaper just to write off the car.

Then there is the battery. Most manufacturers do not recommend repairing the pack, so it's another write off.
