    Luc Donckerwolke leaving Lamborghini

    Designer Luc Donckerwolke (40) is leaving Lambo and will be appointed as SEAT's director of design from september 15th, 2005.

    As an interim solution, Audi's overall head of design Walter de Silva is taking over Donckerwolke's post

    Donckerwolke was responsible for the look of the murcielago (and roadster) and the gallardo including the upcoming spyder.

    i think he did a great job! i hope walter will be able to carry on what luc did without having any audi influence in his designs!

    what are your opinions about it zzboba?

    de Silva brought South-Eurpean passion into Audi's design - wether you like it or not. I don't think he'll have difficulties to do so at Lambo. Besides that it is
    a. the whole design team at Lambo that counts and
    b. every companies' design approved by the branches heads of design - which for Audi, Seat and Lambo is in fact de Silva.

    Good news for Donckerwolke, I'd say. Just curious what happens with Dirk from Bentley, he did a similiarly great job as well. Just funny going from the cheapest to probably the most expensive brand in the company...

    Maybe I should apply at Seat then!

    I think he's done trumendously well for Lambo, another challenge in hand with Seat then.
    Pretty cool IMO.
    Proof of his great versatiles talents.

    this is really intersting -- is it good or bad?
    it must be great to design cars which kids hang to their bedroom walls... on the other hand IMO it's the greater challenge to design great production SEATs and to give this kind of faceless brand a unique styling direction.

    i think it's good! the murcielago is a design icon already, but just a niche product. but awesome! i would go out and buy one immediately if i'd have the money -- just because it looks so great. it's a street stealth fighter.

    but personally i don't like the gallardo too much. too compact, no lambo doors, headlights too long and narrow... but he had no choice IMO with all the audi controllers breathing down his neck

    Wow what a shame. Why would he want to go to SEAT instead of Lambo???? The Murci and Gallardo are brilliant.

    We should ask himself what he thinks about this change. In general I suspect Seat to have more ressources to work from which will give him more freedom of choice.

    If Lamborghini's design wouldn't be so vital and important, one could've suspected that it was a place for him to develop. Maybe he proved and therefore got the chance to step up the ladder - just as a sidenote, de Silva changed from Alfa to Seat a couple of years ago and is now head of half of the groups brand design.

    I am just curious what made them change his position and what Lewis is going to do in the future.
