    Say you had a 997/S and a BoxsterS... .

    How and why would you drive both cars? Would you get rid of the BoxsterS? Would you just drive it two or three times a year and drive the 997/S all the time?

    I'm still trying to figure out if I should trade in my 03 986S when the 997S arrives.

    yeah, it will depreciate like crazy; probably smartest to get rid of it. I'm just trying to figure out how I'd actually use the thing if I kept it alongside the new 997S?

    986S is definitely a fun car; I guess I'm wondering if the fun factor of the 997S will make the Boxster just collect dust.

    MMD,

    I would wait until you receive your 997S- then you'll have plenty of time to decide.
    I love the look of the Boxster, in some ways better than the 997.It's a great car from everything I've heard. However, it was never an option for me due to my size. I have a tendency to keep things that I really like/love- so I would probably keep it if I were you. Good luck.

    Even if it does spend a lot of time collecting dust, it's still great eye candy for your garage.

    I personally don't see a reason for keeping the boxter.. As your getting a better car the 997S.. sell the boxter and get your self a membershop in porsche club and in racing school then spend the rest of the money on a nice vication.. Just my opinion..lol..

    Is your 997 a cabrio or coupe?

    If its a coupe then you can easily justify having the 2. I have a 997S coupe but I love open top motoring. I was considering swapping the 997 coupe for a cabrio but decided that it would be a shame to lose the rigidity of the coupe for the few days a year when we in London can use an open top car. So I'm looking at acquiring a roadster. If i want to spend around Pounds30k there are plenty of choices but the Boxster certainly makes it in there. If I already had a Boxster I'd certainly keep it if I could afford to.

    My wife had the Boxster S while I had the 997S. She loved the Boxster but I preferred the 997. On weekends we both drove the 911 more; given the choice, I'll bet the Boxster collects dust. Great car- so similar to the 911 but a little less...power, room, cost, etc. (She traded the Boxster for an SL 500 but I still have the 997S).

    997S is so much more of a car IMO. You'll start to just forget about the Boxster. If you don't mind holding on to both just see how it all plays out.

    I had a 986S and I've test driven the 987S on many occasions. Currently, I've got a 997S and, all around, it's the best thing I've owned. However, mid-engined dynamics aren't the same as rear-engined ones, and I think the Boxster's steering and handling are better at lower speeds. I know they feel similar in many ways. The 911 grew out of the 356, but the Boxster seems like a contemporary 356 in its tautness and tossability. If you can afford to keep them both, do it.

    I've had the same sentiments for a few days now since I ordered a 987S for my wife. Although I know it's HER car having two drop tops seem too much.

    IMO... if you can wait a while keep them both and then let go of the 987 after getting the 997 just to see how two drop tops fit in your lifestyle.
