    3M Rock chip protector-any opinions?Good-Bad?

    Can anyone gives me some advise if it is worth it to get the 3m process done on my new GT3?

    I got it done on my AS Cab. Practically invisible. Cost about $600. Installer came to the house with all his pre-cut stuff. Took about 3.5 hrs. I have a few installation pics. They don't show much but I'll send them to you if you want. Here's the hood. I purposly took it at a bad angle to accentuate the difference and this is about the worse it will ever look.

    Certain colors look bad with tape (eg: black, blue,) your yellow should be fine. If you are doing a lot of track driving or highway driving the tape is of great value. If your time is lower speed around town, save your money. You could paint the nose a couple of times for that.

    Does anyone have any experience on the condition of the paint once you remove the 3M film years later. Is it difficult to remove. Is the rate of paint fade different then uncovered areas. Are there any blemishes as a result of the adhesive?

    The plastic will peel off fairly easily, just grab a corner and start pulling. Applying a little heat from a heat gun will help with any stubborn parots. The film didn't damage or affect the paint on my car after 3 years, although the film itself did start to get a little yellow. 3M makes an adhesive remover that will take off any residue.

    I had a 911 that the tape pulled the clear coat off, had to repaint the nose. I also heard lots of people have not had this problem. Just a word of caution. If I didn't have the tape I would have had to paint the nose anyway.
