slk is just a cheaper sl. its made to cater to poorer people. That is why nobody in their right mind (talking abt ppl who can afford both slk and sl) would buy an slk over an sl.
Now the boxster is also cheaper than a 997. however, atleast porsche decided to make it different and classify it as mid engined roadster and not rear-engined. thus offering somthing more than just a cheaper replacement to the 911.
if i had the money to buy a sl500 (or55) i would never buy an slk55.
2nd, i believe that this comparison is wrong. Why dont they compare the slk55 to the c6.
the boxsters got a 3.2 liter engine. they should compare it to a car with 3.9 liter engine at most. not 5.5 liter like the 55's.
only good thing about the slk350 over the boxster s is the retractable hard top.
but what do i know, im just a 20 yr old waiting for his boxster s to be delivered. (and yes i could have bought a 997 instead, but i would much rather have a gt3 or turbo)

I think quite a few people would buy an SLK55 over an SL500.
I know I would, provided I was restricted to Mercedes only.
I think the SLK55 is more fun to drive than the SL500.

Fanch, most people care about the category their car falls under.
sl- mercedes roadster with long history (aka true mercedes class)
slk- new mercedes roadster made for people who cant afford the original. (aka cheaper newgen mercedes)
some people (mostly enthusiasts) would prefer the slk55 over sl500, mainly due to accel time. But the majority would not.
you could also look at the sales figures of the slk55 and sl500. sl500 wins by far.

yes it does take up some of the boot space when the roof is down, about half. just dont take the roof down after you've gone shopping

@bazza: like i said goto www.irfanview.com download the program(it's free) then open a picture with it and press "Ctrl+R" on your keyboard and you'll see it has different sizes you can choose from 800x600 to me is a good size, not too small and not too big
