Brilliant, Frank!
I still recall vividly being a member of Flat-6.net and attending the Porsche days at Spa with Pieter (944guy), meeting Rufie and seeing a 996 GT3 rs for the first time in the flesh. It made such an impression that I later bought a beautiful 1:18 model of it, I should still have that somewhere.

It's strange how that dynamic works. Where are all those cars? You only ever see the most recent Porsche GT's at the Nürburgring, where are all the 996, 997's, ... that used to litter the parking lots there... 
The BMW's there are from all sort of generations, but people seem to tuck the old Porsches away as soon as there's a fresh generation. Shame as they drive beautifully even at 20yrs old.

My guess is that those who most track Porsches want the latest and fastest model and sell the previous one that land on owners that in turn don't track as much? 
Strange though as in terms of lmao times yes the latest is the fastest but in terms of enjoyment at the track, the fastest is not necessarily the best, in fact you could make an argument that is some cases its opposite, as that gorgeous 996 GT3RS proves.

Had the old girl detailed after last Nordschleife trip, first time it had had such treatment under my tenure. It's gratifying what that does to an older car, it really looks showroom fresh afterwards.

Another trip to the Ring, midweek bank Holiday in CH and Germany, beautiful weather and not much traffic for TF. Perfect to enjoy a few good laps. I repeat myself but I'm amazed at how a 19yr old car hold its own, it never ever asks for anything. It is quick, it's massively engaging. Challenging and rewarding to drive it in classic 911 fashion turn in on its nose into the corner, it rotates for you and nice and early on the throttle. Fantastic fun. Of course no way of staying near 991.2 and 992 RS's.
