Its Jeremy Clarkson... you should be glad he doesn't share your opinion otherwise that wouldn't speak well of you 
I think for an sportcar enthusiast, the choice is obvious, more HP on a sluch-box Merc or more handling in a mid-engined Porsche...

I think in Canada, this is the truth...... Most of Boxster buyers can't afford 911 like most of E500 buyers couldn't afford E55......

Sad part is, no matter how much a Merc costs, you still dont get more handling for your buck.
Look at the AMG S65.

Obviously the SL55 is not the better Sporstcar over a 996TT.
But it maybe the better GT car for a long trip or a less frenetic dash from point A to point B.
Clarkson owns a Ford GT also, so obviously he has the
sports car of his dreams and the rest to him are just
so much also rans.
His choice of the SLK55 over a Boxtser, and his comments about Porsches in general, just show how much he really dislikes Porsche no matter how competent and wonderful
they might be.

i think is quite stupid to mention about how people cant afford the 911.. at least they are 2 different cars
a roadster and a coupe...
and talking about price..buying a boxster S(fully loaded) is only 10 to 20k less than a 911... it maybe true for people who bought the base boxster but i still dont agree...
well it maybe true for posers...

for the boxster s it does handle better and u can feel the engine just behind you and but for the sound i love the v8 engine sound but my mind is always 996 4s or turbo

i had a race with with my '05 noble m400 against my '05 997 S Cab(my dad drove the cab haha) and it KILLED KILLED KILLED KILLED it not just but a little, by MILES(figuratively speaking of course )!!!

personally i think rather "ruf" the turbo, there is not much point in the c4s, because it will basically make it the same as a standard turbo
yes my friend's viper has NOS no, we're going to drag on his air strip at his house(they fly planes as a hobbie)
