    Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Well, so much for my pre-purchase query re: Will it be a problem at any time to get a courtesy car if work is done on my vehicle? The answer was: No.

Now.. the answer has been revised to read: Not if you book at least 3 weeks in advance.

Excuse me? That must be a joke. Yes, right.. I always know 3 weeks in advance that work needs to be done. After living in the US for more than 4 years and knowing what a courtesy car service SHOULD look like, this is plain laughable.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

    so..what it is look like?

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Maybe they're short on Renault Espaces at the moment

What about all the other dealers? You could always bring it down here...

What are you having done? First service already?!

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Warranty work on the vents in the dashboard.. not a breakdown issue.

I'm re-scheduling my appointment to a time where they DO have a courtesy car available. Luckily, in this case it's not a grave issue and doesn't prevent me from driving. But that's not always a given. In my eyes, advertising a courtesy car service but limiting it to certain time slots negates the availability claim. I usually try to get by without a replacement car as I did this time, but unforeseen job demands do pop up from time to time and require mobility on short notice.

I'm mainly upset because I feel being led around by the nose, since I made it clear during the order process that courtesy car availability is a big service issue for me and was assured it's not a problem.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

    hmm
i never thought about this issue..

so do they give you actually a porsche courtesy car??

i mean for example i have brought my benz to service..
they ended up giving me c230 and even an american car.....................

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Well...I'd prefer a Porsche, but truth to be told anything that moves is better than no car. I'm not picky for short term "outages" if it means that I stay mobile.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Exeter dealer usually gives BMWs. Don't know about Bournemouth.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

Bounemouth have a dela with the local VW dealership, so ex-demo Golfs/Polos - not particularly impressed, get a better car when the runaround is in (previously Lupo/Mini/Golf etc.) rather than Porsche.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

so no dealer would give porsche as courtesy car?

If you ask them they will, and you have to give them some notice (2-3 days). They just give you a demo car.

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

2-3 days? 3 weeks or longer, is what I was told... to get ANY car at all. That's West London Porsche, for reference.

Same here with West London, which makes timing the anual service/MOT/insurance/tax thing a bit harder. Well, at least the MOT isnt part of that having got a new Boxster now.

Does anyone in the UK deliberately get a 6 month road tax once so it doesnt coincide with your insurance renewal anymore? especially now you get fined for getting your road tax late.

West London , what a shock I moved my order from their to Reading , and anyways Reading is where all Ps go initially for there PDI then on to Hatfield and all London dealerships..Hence I have saved my baby a movement from some herbert driving it on a flat bed HGV that does'nt give a monkeys..

    All the best lads..

    throt...

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

That's a bunch of crap, in the US we at least get a Pcar. Cayanne or boxter.

I can only speak for Audi and Mazda in NC, but both had their own brand loaners as well as a deal with a rental company across the street in case all their loaners were out. That guaranteed me a replacement at any given time when bringing in my car for work (long planned, short notice or no notice.. mattered not), though it was not always an Audi/Mazda. My Audi had various electronic QA issues so I used the courtesy car service quite frequently. The funniest fault was perhaps the complete outage of my speedometer.

Officer: "Do you know how fast you were driving?"

Re: Porsche courtesy car policy (UK)

In the UK 'normal' dealers have own brand demos - but because of the demand and wait for Porsche they can't justify having p-cars just for loaners so they utilise other makes. If you're lucky you may sometimes get a demostrator though (I haven't been lucky yet, although did hint alot about the Turbo S cab in the showroom for when my car goes in tomorrow!)
