    What colour?

    I am not 100% sure which colour should I use for my new 997 4S. I want this car to be my daily car.

    pro: easy to clean, you don't see the small stone punches, the contour of the car is better to see
    contra: it is a colour for seniors

    I have a Black Metalic BMW convertible 330i, I just ordered the 997 Basalt Black with Natural Leather. I think the metalic black is great, always looks great, and is a richer look. IMHO although I do not think you could get a P which looks bad

    I am getting a steal gray with Natural brown interior.. and God knows how will it turn out.. I am having nightmares about it everday.. But everybody says it will look very good.. I can't commit on it still..

    seal gray is a very rich color.. i used to have a boxster in seal gray..it looks good in all shades of light IMHO.. ull love the color more and more everyday u see it.. excellent choice

    Artic Silver over Basalt Black any day. Although there are some black metallics I like, Basalt is not one of them. In fact it is probably my least liked Porsche color.....and I've seen it on just about anything. This is clearly a personal choice though.

    If you get Basalt black, and you get a stone chip or something that needs touch up paintwork, you will have a more difficult time matching the color than if it was plain black. Plus plain black is cheaper. For me, the decision would be Arctic vs Black, and I'd choose Arctic for the reasons you listed.

    I am disappointed by the color selections for Porsche. Audi has a better selection of complex and rich colors IMO. Heck, even Nissan does.

    Color is such a personal choice.... different people, different likes... not one is better than another...if one likes it. Some might be more user friendly, some might be taugh on resale value, but tht's it, I think... Just personal taste.

    There is only one color for a Porsche; Black (which I chose for my 997s). BUT after some thought I ended up voting for the arktissilver.

    For a daily driver you are going to have to wash the car after every rainfall, every dirt road, basically every two days (which might be OK if you have kids or a neighbor with kids who knows how to wash a car). But personally, I do not have that kind of time (no kids and my neighbors kid is a lazy Playstation couch potatos).

    Also, I find when I am parking I always park at the end of a row, or away from the general door dinging public. I try to do the same in my daily (Silver BMW), but I often find myself getting a little lazy and grabbing the first available space.

    Just my personal opinions for whatever they are worth.

    BTW, after washing the black beast yesterday I felt the urge to take it out for a little drive. After 30 miles I finished with that atypical smile on my face. Then I realized another cost justification for the Porsche: You can fire your therapist.... 30 minutes of 'fun' driving is the best therapy money can buy.

    Last Porsche (997TT) was Black. Loved the way it looked when it was washed and waxed but now have an Artic 997 S cab and when the 997 TT cab is out will order that in Artic as well. 1)Looks 2)As a "daily driver" you will LOVE Artic. Easiest to keep clean AND looking clean. My Black 996 was a hassle. Every time I washed it I felt the need to wax it or it wouldn't look 100%. 3)IMO the best mettallic Porsche has. Reflects sunlight like no other color. 4) Artic is the most classic Porsche color. Ferrari- Red, Porsche - Artic Silver.

    BLACK-most likely to camoflage the vehicle for speedy night driving!

    If only we could figure out which color would most likely deflect radar signals. . . .

    Stay with seal grey - you won't regret it! Best of both worlds, black and silver.

    With "natural brown" do you mean cocoa or the lighter natural leather interior?

    Damn! I feel you, I've jumped in and out of colors more than a Mexican jumping bean. I would say choosing the color is the hardest choice youll have to make on the car. Like someone else said the P car looks nice in almost any color. Black is beautiful but it takes a real serious meticulous person to keep it clean. Arctic is a low maintenance color and looks wonderful. Even though it is a common color, its by no means a dog. If cost is not an option GT Silver is the one, or I've seen a dark olive metallic that looked insane. Rossi gives good advise Seal is the best of both worlds. Whatever you choose will be a winner.

    I would suggest to take a look at an olive green example. Green for a sportscar might sound a little odd, but in reality it comes close to basalt for darkness especially combined with a black interior. It's looks much more exclusive and classy than basalt, but has the same stealth tone (necessary for daily use )

    I recently saw a Nissan 350Z in a dark silver that literally looked like molten steel. It just GLOWED, and was more alive than any silver I've ever seen. I've seen alot of fawning on here over GT Silver, but quite honestly, I think other automakers are offering far more tantalizing and "polished-bare-metal" looking silvers and charcoals.

    My screen needs a double size, but then my desk 's too small

    My favourite , but too expensive combo: GT-silver with cocoa int.
    Gt-silver , because it's richer colour then arctic, cocoa because it's typical for this era of porsches, and feels like a warm interior.

    To the point: silver enhances the curves , black neutralises them...

    Black is "cooler" and sporty...
    But I nearly have to wash my car every two days...

    For the looks black, for your convenience, comfort: silver...

    It's just to make you hesitate more, isn't it?

    Agree- Arctic Silver.
    GT Silver is a close second. Very classic colors- I don't care if they are common... so are blondes and brunettes.

    Black is awesome, but only if you're someone like 69bossnine. It's a lot of work, and hot too.
