New Options for MY 06 "Official"

Interesting reading of the MY06 specs available for the Boxster on the Finnish Porsche website.

It shows TPMS avail for Euro 540 (code 482) and more importantly the Cayman S 18 wheels thus giving Boxster owners a choic of 18 wheels for the first time. Priced at Euro 905 (code 401) it would make a nice alternative to the Boxster S wheels.

Slightly more exciting is the new 19'' SportEvo wheel at a hefty Euro 2690 for 2.7 owners (code XRR). It would need to be the dogs for that sort of price.

Also for all you Aerokit die hards, Porsche will be offering a new 'Sport Design package' priced at a whopping Euro 3500 (code XAL). Wonder that looks like???
Also avail for MY 06 is a 987 sports exhaust (order code XLF) at Euro 1290 which is also available for the Cayman S.

And a new option which I think the Boxster needs especially with the 19'' wheels. 5 mm spacers front and rear for Euro 290 (code XRP).

    All prices are excluding tax.

Knowing Porsche (and my luck) none of these will be available on my MY 06 Boxster due off the line in September. RC can you shed any light on this????

    Typical.

I think you already shed enough light on this. Seems to be everything correct. I'm still investigating the tire sizes for the new wheels (especially for the SportEvo wheel).
Maybe the good news: option XLF may be available on a much better basist hatn the same option on the 997. Apparently Porsche understood that people really want it. I also heard that the rear pipes will be roundly shaped, not like they are now.

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

Thanks for that, must say, if I thought these options where available from the start of MY06, I will order the sports exhaust and possibly the Cayman S wheels instead of the 19 Carerra Classics currently on my order. Would also consider the spacers as they seem cheap.

What I wanted to see if you know RC is, do you think these options willbe available from the 01/08/06 as the price list says, or will porsche do its usual trick by not offering any MY06 options till half way through 2006 (approx May 2006?!?)

    Cheers,

    JZ

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

As far as I know, the XLF option for the Boxster S isn't in the ordering systems yet. And usually people are served on a first come, first get basis.
It can't be excluded that you have to wait a little bit longer for XLF but if you can wait until July 1st (another two weeks), I may find out for you. This is the day I'm going to visit the factory to pick up my wife's Boxster S.

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

Thanks that would be excellent. My car should be the first to my UK OPC for the MY06 and is forecast as a September build for October delivery. I would really love to spec the Cayman S 18''s (cos they are new) and most definitley the new Sports exhaust (XLF).

Look forward to hearing about it.

    Cheers,

    JZ

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

    RC,
Any clue as to whether or not the sport exhaust can be retro fit?

    Thanks,

    Nash

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

Would the Sport Exhuast fit both the 2.7L and "S" mdoels???

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

Dont see why the sports exhaust wont be a retro fit...

You could do it on the old boxster and can on the current 997.

Looking forward to this one very much. Anyboy know what price we can expect to pay for a retro fit in the UK? What kind of price was the 986 version

I'm not 100% sure but Porsche would be really dumb if they wouldn't offer a retrofit kit. So I think I don't say anything wrong if I say that YES, it should be retrofittable.
Regarding compatibility with the Boxster (the Boxster S is confirmed): the PSE for the 997 Carrera S fits the 997 Carrera (not S!) too. I have the technical certification in my hands which confirms that. Unfortunately Porsche doesn't officially sell the PSE for the 997 Carrera and dealers may have a hard time to get one for a 997 Carrera (not S).
I suppose that it is the same with the Boxster and Boxster S, same exhaust for both models.
Apparently demand for the 997 PSE is so high, they offer it only for the Carrera S/CS Cab and the upcoming C4S/C4S Cab only. If it is true that it is part of the 381 HP powerkit, it may explain a further delay for the 997 Carrera (not S) too.

We just have to wait and to see how many Boxster PSE systems have been ordered with their supplier. Hopefully Porsche was clever enough to get more PSE this time.

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

There's also a new "extended" navigation module for PCM slightly more expensive than the standard PCM. Anyone knows what is this about?

Re: New Options for MY 06 "Official"

News from my OPC after enquiries about the sports exhaust and Cayman S wheels is that according to Porsche GB the Cayman wheels won't be available till the Cayman is realeased (end of year). The sports exhaust may not be available for the UK market at the start of MY06 due to 'problems with emissions', and therfore the exhaust won't be available till these issues are sorted out.

Shame, so it looks like its the chrome tailpipe and 19'' Carerras for me then with triple black. Should look good, and the new Boxster sounds more gruff than the old Boxster anyway.

    Cheers,

    JZ
