    My Review: Noble M400

Hi guys, this is my short review on the Noble M400 as requested by some. Please note that I'm not a proffesional, just a normal everyday joe that really enjoys cars! My opinions may differ from yours, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

    INTERIOR:
To be honest, the interior is slightly better than a kit car, not a lot of detail went into the interior apart from the alcantara roof lining, I really like that part. They have covered up the rollbar with alcantara as well.

The car comes out with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the shifting was jerky at first, but it seems it has smoothened itself out. The first four gears are very short, designed for track use, the last two gears are much longer for long range driving on the highway/freeway.

The analogue speedo and rev counter are very basic as you can see, the LED lights are situated in the center console of the car, as well as the boost gauge and oil pressure/temperature gauge.

The car comes with carbon-fibre bucket seats, which are suprisingly comfy, you have the option of having leather or alcantara finishings on your seat. I opted for alcantara for my seat as it would feel more comfortable and one would not feel like you will slip and slide around on your seat. The car luckily has got an air-conditioning system, you have the option of ordering the car without it, but you would die from the heat here in summer if you don't have it!

In general, the interior is very basic, they could have used a higher quality of leather for the car in my opinion. There is much room for improvement. The car has manual wind down windows to save weight, and the sound system is adequate although the main console is situated on the passanger side. The downside for safety of this car, is that is doesn't have any airbags, once again due to saving weight. It has normal seat belts, or a full body harness, you can choose which one you feel like using. If you're going to the track, the car has everything on the inside you're going to need. For everything else it's not very practical, there is almost no storage space either, but if you buy this car it's for the fun of driving and only driving!

    EXTERIOR:

The car's body is mainly made from fibre-glass, the wing at the back is made from carbon-fibre. The entire bottom of the car is totally covered up with metal plates for aerodynamics and to protect the car from any accidental scrapes. It comes out with 18" in-house rims.

Well, there's the engine, a 3 litre V6 twin-turbo. The power feels endless, even at speeds above 220kmh/140mph, it is just so willing to perform! There is a little turbo lag in the beginning of pulling away, but just keep the revs about 3000rpm and you will be fine. My apologies for the dusty engine, I went on a dirt road yesterday.

    CONCLUSION:
In general, I'm very happy with the car. There are 1 or two minor problems, but nothing that hasn't stopped me from enjoying it! It does what it's told and there are no funny computers limiting or cutting in on your fun! Some say it is just a kit car, well then so be it, I couldn't be more proud drving my "kit car" around.

Magnificent car Mike S! Top notch

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

    Great job Mike, thanks

I love that car, really, not many people realise its performance. Only problem is that dealer network is not the greatest, so maintenance, repairs, etc can be dificult depending on were you are, and realiability is always a chance you take with small companies.

A true "driver's car". Very cool

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

Great review Mike. Big fan of the noble, If I had a garage I would have taken an M12 instead of the Boxster.

How much room is there inside? Big enough for a tall driver? Ive heard that its pretty small and in the M12 the steering wheel and pedals are slightly offset

thanks a lot carlos! about the maintenance, they were actually quite ingenious, very simple way to resolve too! they used a ford motor mainly because a) you can get parts easy from ford(well noble doesn't have a vast network, but ford does) b) because they are from ford, parts will be relatively cheap. if you look carefully at the indicators switch by the steering wheel, it comes straight off a ford as well!

well my tallest friend is 6'4 and he fits into the car fine, there is a small bit of contortioning involved when getting into the car(even for shorter people) and the pedals are a little more to the center than you are, but you don't really notice it!

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

Thanks, Mike!!! Great review and car

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

I have been an Ultima fan, but this Noble is growing on me. The reviews of this car has been great. Good write up too. Thanks!

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

Wow, I wasn't a big fan of the noble's..but now I am!! ...Only knew about this car, because of gumball 3000!.

I really like the front of the car, the rear is ok, but the interior is kind of "tunning" , but hey, I like this car, I think your exterior colour is the best choice!!!.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing them...and again nice house too

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

    Great review Mike, thank you!

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

Thanks for the great review and pics....
I'd also like to see more pics of your house and surroundings

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

    thanks jp66,

you show me yours, i'll show you mine lol

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

nice review! I hv read a lot about it in UK mags like EVO.

    truely an awesome track car.

How is the compliance on the road. too harsh??
can one live with it as an everyday car?? (forgetting about storage spaces)

The car is just making an appearance in Australia now.
I had been looking at it for a while as a second car besides my 987 Boxster work car.

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

i wouldn't recommend it as an everyday car derder, the ride is quite hard, but a little softer than a 911 turbo.

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

Just wonder what is the crub weight of the car?

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

with all my extra's such as air con etc. it is at 1080kg/2376lbs, so it's a 300kw per tonne car. 108kw per litre engine

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

    One thing I realized recently:

The M400 is called that because it has 400hp/ton. However, this is per metric ton (2,200 lbs) instead of US ton (2,000 lbs). Still mighty great power/weight!

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

    correct grant!

I assume a metric ton is about 2,200 lbs because this is the weight of 1,000 kg...

    Re: My Review: Noble M400

correct yet again, you either divide or multiply by 2.2 depending from which side you're working from
