Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

By demand...a comparison picture (front discs).

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

CAN THE POWER KIT BRAKE SET BE ORDERED SEPERATELY?

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

OMG!!! that is a huge difference!!! thank you RC!!

yes good question ballmon!! i would definately install the brakes seperately if i could!

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

how big are those brakes? 8 piston? Are they bigger than what Brembo offers separately as an aftermarket?

RC: did you buy new wheels also?

Brembo doesn't sell a brake kit for the Cayenne Turbo, these kits are usually put together by tuners or parts companies.
The Powerkit brake can NOT be purchased from Porsche seperately from the Powerkit. But there are tuners and parts companies who does it like for example www.carnewal.com (Caution: we have no experience whatsoever with this company, this is just an information, not a recommendation!).
I've been cautioned by Porsche that installing the brake only without the suspension parts (part of the PK too) may not work as it should.

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

I've bought a couple of things from Gert at Carnewal and his service is excellent. If you opt for the FedEx shipping you can track your delivery online.

Darn! After what you wrote about the Cayenne's standard brakes being so-so, I wanted to get the powerkit just for the brakes... it would always be nice to get something a little better. but the powerkit here costs around $35,000 which is a bit too much for me

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

Oops, sorry, 6 piston calipers but huge.
And yes, the front rims had to be exchanged too.
The rear ones have the Porsche spacers.
We want to keep the CT for another three years, so the powerkit install was a good decision. Cheaper than going for a new Cayenne when the facelift shows up. The Cayenne is our family car, I don't really care too much about facelifts and new looks. And since I doubt that the facelift will have a substantially lower fuel consumption or much more power, I opted for staying with our current CT until the NEXT generation (not facelift) shows up.

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

good eyes, deetz i only noticed now the new rims are slightly painted!!

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

Very nice! How come the CT rotors aren't x-drilled like the 911T?

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

Impressive! A pitty the CT/CS didn't came with these from the beginning.

    Thanks. (.com).

The Cayenne is a SUV and will be moved in rough terrain too from time to time. The holes would be clogged with dirt.

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

I forgot to mention the sizes of the brake discs.
Front: 380 mm (vs. 350 mm OEM brake)
Rear: 358 mm (vs. 330 mm OEM brake)

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

good question, i know that on all stock off road cars, they are never x-drilled, for what reason i was never sure of, but i'm sure RC will have an answer!

I think I already replied to that.

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

LOL...not sure if I will ever take my CT offroad, I just thought it would look really nice with X-Drilled Rotors.

With the upgraded brakes does your CT brakes feel as responsive when compared to a Boxster or 911?

could you please point out where that reply is somewhere on this forum RC? i'm wanna learn somethin new thnx!

Re: Cayenne Turbo - OEM Brake and Powerkit Brake

I'm not sure about the dirt issue, but do know that cross drilled rotors are a problem for any car that gives it's brakes a real workout. This is seen as cracks forming between the holes, that evetually cause the rotor to fail. Race teams run slotted, not drilled rotors, for this reason.
