Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 996TT?

I know that everyone has differen opinions. In the past, I have even saved money by buying slighlty used headers for other turbos.

Any recommendations - there are many options, but noone seems to have performed a definative before and after test\ dyno'd test on the various brands.

Any advice in advance is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 996TT?

europipe is the ONLY way to go

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 996TT?

EP 2 Loud...

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 996TT?

I just drove over for a Europipe quiet. Really nice guys who obviously have a passion for their work. Helpful and accomodating. The exhaust sounds great. I think a small, independent (fiercely so!) firm with such a good product deserves support.

Can't say much about Europipe (they have Euro in the name but I never heard of them... ) but what worked very well for dozends of 996 Turbo owners was and is the Cargraphic sport exhaust with high flow cats. As far as I remember, there are three sound versions, you shouldn't go for the loudest one because it is pretty loud. I had the louder street legal version (I think this would be version 2) and it got louder and louder after I had the exhaust for a while.
Very nice and aggressive 911 flat six sound and you also gain around 12-16 HP (I saw some dyno testing on various cars equipped with this exhaust).

Not sure if the Cargraphic exhaust is available in the US but it may be.

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

Europipe used to supply to Manthey Racing.

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

Europipe!

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

Don't beat dead animals, that's just mean.

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

Is there a link for Europipe?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

For those of you in the US who ordered the EP exhaust system, I presume you got an independent to fit it for you? Does it affect the warranty (i presume it must do??)

I checked their website and I don't think they're actually the manufacturer of these exhaust systems.
Can't say much about Manthey but regarding engines/exhausts, Schmirler is THE Porsche guru worldwide.
And he uses Cargraphic, which actually is not made by them either but made for them. I think the original manufacturer is a company called Phoenix but I don't remember the details. I think these guys also make the GT3 exhaust systems for cup cars and custom made stuff.

This doesn't mean Europipe is a bad product, please don't get me wrong. I just ask you guys to be cautious because we Europeans have a very very nasty habit: we think that we can sell ANYTHING to Americans. And this comes as a friendly advice, especially since I have lots of contacts to various Porsche "related/connected" people and I hear the good things and the bad things.

"I have lots of contacts to various Porsche "related/connected" people and I hear the good things and the bad things."

Give us a pointer here on a brand or two that you "heard" good about it...

Personally I had heard before thatvCargraphic was the way to go on both exhausts and ECU mods (done by RS tuning for them)...

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

What do guys think of the Techart/Superprint exhaust? has anyone heard one? Is there a link to a sound clip?

-thanx

seen this links?!

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

yeap! But the price goes ad high as the sound though... we're looking at $15 000 doll pipes...

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 996TT?

I have a RUF on my 2001 TT--expensive but I like the sound. Not too loud.

Some folks say AWE Tuning has a good exhaust. Haven't tried, but I know Mike Romano monitors this board so he may want to comment.

I emailed Europipe about a Manthey exhaust when I saw one on Ebay. Europipe makes it with a 400 cel cat for use in Germany. The 400 cel cat is a different diameter then the standard Europipe cat and cannot practically be replaced. It results in a 7HP loss vs.the 100cel Europipe.

Re: Beating a dead horse - what aftermarket exhaust for a 99

I just sent a deposit for a used Supersprint/Techart exhaust. Has anyone ever heard one or a sound clip?
