Frankfurt Auto Show

This past week's threads have been great with speculation and angst re. the 997 in TT, TS, T-Cab, GT2 and GT3 versions. I know that PAG officially introduces the Cayman at the IAA in September in Frankfurt am Main. Any word from anyone if you have heard of 997 updates that might be better detailed at the show, especially the turbo variants?

I doubt a car company as small as Porsche will intro more than one model at a time.

That was my initial thought, although it seems PAG has more capital since they added the Cayenne and seem to have their act together with the 997 variants (C2/C2S/C2Cab/C2SCab/C4/C4S) unleashed in rapid-fire. And with the 998 planned for ?2008, could they intro. the turbo at Frankfurt? On second thought, that would distract drivers from the Cayman, even though it's a different demographic market. . . .

i hope porsche doesn't keep changing models or introducing new ones at the rate mercedes-benz are

it doesn't make sense to me for Porsche to release the 998 so soon. this can't be true. i'm thinking 2010 at earliest.

You could be correct, although I've heard of it being knocked around the internet as an '08 or '09 model. Obviously pure speculation.

And if Super Darius' dealer is correct (posted on the general Porsche board), the 997 turbo will be intro-ed at Geneva (that's March of '06, isn't it?). If the TS and T-Cab come later, it could be spring of '07 before a TSCab is available. . . .

hahaha, i can't believe people are still talking about the 998 and how the 997 is only a stopgap.

the introduction of a new model / 997 every 6 months doesnt seem to support that theory either.

Same with the F430 being an interim model until the all-new V8-Ferrari. Who ever invents such theories?

probably just people regretting that they bought a late model 996/ 360 and wishing they waited an extra few months.
