One of my arguments that the origins shouldn't matter is this: The origin of my name (Eric) is scandinavian and means "ever powerful"(acording to babynamesworld.com). Am I scandinavian? No. Am I ever powerful? No. Should I be stripped of my name because of this? I don't think so...
Hey.
Erm....unless your name was made especially for YOU, I cant see any comparison between the way people name their children, and how Porsche is marketing their cars via artificially created names.
I dont think very many people give their children names that describe their physical traits or purpose.
(Except my parents, who gave me a name that means "he who has ridicoulously large genitals")
The closest parallel I can think of -staying in your analogy-, is this:
Your name is Eric. Eric is a man's name. Let's say you hav a daughter. Would you name her Eric XS (xtra small) ?
(Okay...this is getting outta hand...LOL!!!!!
I absolutely see the practicality of calling it Boxster something - I just think it would be off the mark.
Besides...we will probably have to live with the name Cayman. Yikes!
