    Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

Tough to avoid the label with a small car. BMW lamely tried to fix the Z3 with the Z4, and Mercedes trying same with the SLK. The 911 escapes the label, probably due to its long tradition. This thing is cute enough to make the question valid in my opinion.

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

lol, it's half true what you say booger after a year after the SLK's release, it was then it was clear to me that this is a woman's car.... not really the Z3, and 50/50 for the boxster in this part of the world

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

I can tell you this... I want to see my wife in a Cayman S or Boxter S because it really looks good on her.

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

I don't know, I can't see myself in a Boxster as my "main" car because I think it "fits" my wife better (speaking from a design point of view, not about performance) but I think that the Cayman isn't a woman's car (again speaking from a design point of view), it is too much of a combo of sportiness/ugliness and an aggressive head turner (as weird as this might sound to you guys).

The new Boxster (987) is perfect regarding it's design, the line flow, everything is very fluent and right on the spot. The 911 is too masculine from behind and too aggressive viewed from a frontal side view, not a real woman's car.

Finally, it doesn't matter if the driver is a woman or a man...as long as they can actually DRIVE and CONTROL their car.

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

I agree with RC the Cayman is to aggresive to be labeled a females car. That being said, does it really matter what gender drives any car? My wife love the P car, not as much as myself but enough for me to consider her now more of an affecionado, enthusiast if you will. It is ironic when I see gals riding in raised 4 x 4 trucks. My first thought is, oh that must be their mans truck. Im labeling, and judging prematurely. But I can see how certain cars fit the bill, ie: Honda Civics, Celicas, and 3 series convertibles, or for that manner almost any 3 with the exception of the M.

I suppose M is for "man."

I think we'd be surprised at how important these things are to marketing people, and for good reason if one wants to sell cars. Same folks who influence making the wheels bigger and code brake caliper colors by how much you spent on your brakes. On some level a car is just a car, but let's be real, no one here thinks that way. Our car is chosen in part based on the impression we convey to other drivers. My car is used only for twisty-road commuting as my wife doesn't like the image of an expensive gas guzzler, so won't ride in it. If it were practical for family needs she'd be in a hybrid. We had a white WV cabriolet for a while, "the muffin car," that I was embarrassed to ride in.

I can't speak for everyone, but I know for a fact I am not that way. I will not even admit to strangers what I drive. It's the way I was raised as a child. I usually say it's an El Camino or a small import, nothing special. I don't care if my brakes are black, red, or yellow since they are all fine colors for brakes. I might not agree to pink brakes, however. Nobody's perfect! I picked my car for performance on the road, not performance in front of an audience. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

the coxster is for dykes, not chicks, you can get special designation the Gaywoman, and everyone else gets the Gayman.

And I respect you for it. I've never had anyone ask me what I drive.

I picked my car to make my commute more enjoyable. It worked. I feel privileged to drive it, and fortunate to be able to buy it.

RC, I don't know about that. It's all a matter of opinion. Society makes these categories of a man's and women's car. Are all the old English roadster women cars? I would say the Boxster is closer to the original sport cars than anything. Secondly, did Porsche set out with women in mind in building a roadster? Hey, but thats your opinion.

Please tell me I didn't read this correctly. I happen to be a woman and I happen to have and drive a 9114S. I bought my 911 because I happen to love them, have always wanted one, and I enjoy driving one. It is not my "man's" car and I certainly didn't buy it to impress anyone. That car is way too expensive in order to use as an attention getter. I have much better ways to impress people if that were my intention.

This idea that certain cars are gender specific vehicles belongs back in the dark ages boys. And tell me something? If cars were gender specific can you tell me what is wrong with driving a "chick" car? What is so embarrassing about this? This seems to indicate to me that some may be insecure about their masculinity, mmmm?

Sorry to come down hard on you guys, but it pains me to see other porsche owners/drivers to have such sexist views. I would think that most who drive these mean machines have enough intelligence to understand that women can drive anything you "men" can drive and handle them just as well or better

And guess what? I am a real woman

Congrats on your 4S, the more people who drive Porsches the better. I wouldnt worry about the chick vs guy car thing to much when it comes to Porsches. Its all nonsense. Ive seen women driving Ferraris, Astons (recent ones!), Porsche, Lambos, Masertis et al..

My daughter wants a Ferrari, what does that say about Ferrari???

I have never seen a woman driving a Morgan, maybe thats the last "Guys" car left.

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

Yeah, I agree with Jenna. She's right. I've seen her driving at a Porsche event as well. She's good driver. Her machine is flanking mine on the right.

It's a guy thing. If a guy bought and drove what is considered a "chick car", he would be harassed by all the other guys. Kind of hard to explain the mentality behind that but it's a guy thing. Sorry.

As a matter of fact I have, and you should know better than most Alan, seeing how you are from my home state and live in Newport Beach, that it is quite a popular vehicle with the surfers who carry their board vertically up from their back seats of a Volkswagon Cabriolet.

Yeah, I know it's a guy thing. Sad, but true. Why are you guys so hard on yourselves? With this concept in mind, women have many more choices of cars to drive than men, because a woman can drive any of them, while you guys limit yourself to whatever you all consider a "man's" car.

And Tony, ready to weave and race again? Was quite a great time

I think I'll like this forum lol. All in good fun...

    Re: Chick Car ( Caywoman)?

Cor, this thread is sooo funny!

Is it my turn to offend someone? Cool!

I think a lot of our continental neighbours (you know who you are!) - have a very old-fashionned outlook on the Man/Woman thing. S'Funny.

And it's not just the cars that women can look good in, whatever they buy. Have you considered the clothes advantages? I mean, come on guys, have you felt how good pantyhose feel against the skin?....

    ...or is that just me?

Oops, my manliness is slipping. Better go rub some Swarfega on my chest.

Guys and gals are different. They have different mammary glands and genitalia among a host of other anatomical differences. They act differently. They wear different clothes and shoes and tend to have different hairstyles. They also tend to drive different cars.

While there is some overlap in the "exterior selections", they are different.

Hence, the concept that there are "chick" cars, and other cars with features that might be considered masculine.

There's nothing offensive or wrong with that.

I think you're being too sensitive "Topless". Nobody's trying to offend your gender by suggesting that the 911, in looking muscular and powerful, is a masculine car.

Incidentally, your response is a rather "typical" feminine one . . .

    PS. Love your car

PPS. I'm just playin' - someimes these forums can get a little dull. Thanks for heating things up a little.

I guess I need to pay more attention then. Unfortunately, I don't spend a lot of time driving around the Newport peninsula to notice.

By the way, congratulations to you for owning a 911. There's nothing sexier than seeing a woman driving a 911, in my opinion. Wish there were more.
