    A day at the track

Twas a beautiful sunny day in the high 20's *C today. Porsche Iberica and my dealer held a DE at the Braga track for customers.

First here is a snap on the fly of the tax collectors... errrr, I mean traffic law enforcement, looking after our wallets... errr I mean safety
The car inocently parked on the edge of this downhill starigh stretch of the highway (with the arrow) was a camouflaged cop car with a built in french-made Multanova 6F radar which made my "copilot" sing the Ka-band melody

Re: A day at the track

Here is yours truly's next to a beautiful GT3RS with slicks

Re: A day at the track

Here is a 911 2.7RS that made the ground rumble with the exhaust, its was louuuud!! and belonged to the same owner of the GT3RS, an old racing driver.

Re: A day at the track

Here is another shot getting ready to go into the track

Re: A day at the track

    Here is a CGT

Re: A day at the track

Here is a wider shot at the parking lot... can you pick out the "intruder"

Re: A day at the track

Here is a very strange Boxster on display. It had slicks on! and full racecar interior, very much like a GT3Cup car.

Re: A day at the track

    rear,

Re: A day at the track

    they had several of them

Re: A day at the track

    Thank you Carlito!
    Very nice pictures hombre!
Can't wait for your impressions of the 997S sport chassis on the track!

Re: A day at the track

The event consisted in slaloms runs, grabbed a Boxster S for this one myself.

Also PSM-on PSM-off tests on iced curves of the smaller track (that one was funny: PSM-off= caos until the grass off the track stops you , PSM-on= easily controlled understeer)

And and then grabbed a 997 for the laps at the big track. Even with PASM the car was so nice to drive at the track, playing at the borderline of traction around the bends. The car did not understeer at all, and had mild oversteer at mid corner onwards easily balanced with the throttle input. I love this car, the steering, the brakes, the gearbox, the balance and character of its handling...

Sorry I didn't take more pictures but I was busy and then had to leave quickly after the end of the event because I was in a hurry.

Its a good thing they gave us hats because I would have burt under the sun otherwise, and here is cool little gift, a key chain with the big reds calipers

I ended up not taking mine into the track since I only managed 1500km of the brake-in and they had cars of their own available to use instead. Afterwards at the end some took their own cars into the track, I just had enough time to listen to the 911 2.7RS roar at the track before I had to leave

Re: A day at the track

Very nice! Sounds like a great day! I think it's a great idea to drive the official 997 and not have to waste your own brakes and tires

Re: A day at the track

Thank you Carlos! Great shots. Makes you want to be there

Re: A day at the track

Carlos, how do you think the PASM might compare to your suspension - personal opinion (unbiased of course!)?

Re: A day at the track

Thanks for the great pics Carlos Rennteam could use more posted PICS!!!

Re: A day at the track

    Thanks for the pics Carlos!!

Re: A day at the track

Very very very nice Pics my good man... surely made my day! thanks

Re: A day at the track

    Yes, thx 2

Re: A day at the track

great pix carlos!! i want one of those key chains too and you say you're on 1500km's already?! I'm sitting on 900km on mine and i've had mine for half a month longer than u

Re: A day at the track

Glad you guys liked the pics

Silver Bullet, the PASM is a very capable suspension, even on the track as I found out, in terms opf lap times I don't think the differences would be very noticeable in the hands of non-profesional drivers. But the "feel" is different, the -20mm feels like a sportier car, more direct, more fun, more GT3-like. But the PASM is not bad at all, and like i said, its very capable, and gives you that compromise for confort that the -20mm doesn't. For me, I prefer the -20mm hands down, but I can understand why for other people it may not be worth it and the PASM may be a better option.

Re: A day at the track

Carlos, at what time did you attend the meeting? I was there with the 12:00 to 14:00 group but there was no CGT or RS cars at the time. And what they offered me was the hat and a silly cd-holder, not the key chain :/

I left my digital camera on the car so I only took some pictures with my cell phone. I'll post them here when I transfer them.

Re: A day at the track

Here are the images I look at the track day.

Re: A day at the track

Hi Steve, looks like we were there in diferent days. Your event was held Wednesday and mine was the day after on Thursday The CGT and RS were from private owners from my dealership.

Yes, I was there on Wednesday, June 1. The event was organized by the Braga Porsche Center. Yours was probably organized by a different dealer.

As a side note, the track day was a very nice event and I'm looking forward to meet other Porsche owners by going to the Porsche Clube Portugal events. I'm a member since 2004 but never went to any event yet :/

Re: A day at the track

    STEVE WHAT ARE THESE PICTURES?

In one pic with the laptop there is a brochure with Carlos name on it!

    Is Carlos selling Porsche Parts?

Re: A day at the track

LOL, that is funny... In Holland we have a saying: "Er zijn meer honden die Fikkie heten", "There are more dogs that are called Buster" or something like that. Carlos is quite a common name in Spain.
    -Joost-

Re: A day at the track

Joost he has the same name and surname!!

    Carlos name IS Carlos Silva

Re: A day at the track

    LOL!
The owner of the Braga dealership has the same name, but its not me, its a good thing we use "two" last names here

Steve, Wednesday was for Portuguese dealers, and Thursday was for the spanish across the border. As to the Porsche Clube Portugal, they have an event at the Braga track every year, I did not go this years (back in April) but member J.Seven goes every year, he says its a lot of fun.

Re: A day at the track

    Hi all.

I went to the correspondent event that took place in Estoril circuit, but on the May 11, with the good old 911 SC Targa. Awesome day.

Contrasting to the beautiful day in Braga, in Estoril it was dreadful, so the monitors kept the pace rather slow. It had some advantages however, since the tire tread was spared and the slipery surface allowed some nice thrills.

Like in Braga, we were able to test the new Boxster in some slipery conditions, slalom, brake, PSM and no PSM, etc...

In the end, they also gave a key chain like that (being using ever since )

I was somehow disaponted cause i was hoping to see more classic Porsches and not just the "new" ones. It made my day since i saw a great GT3 RS!

    Some photos:

    The awesome GT3 RS:

My (fathers...) little 911 at the backgound:

Finaly, a one lap onboard video (go to the bottom of the page and click free, and then wait for the download to begin).

    Some considerations:
    - Excuse the comments on the movie. Concentrate on the engine sound.
    - As i said, it was most of the time on a slow pace, and i rarely pushed the car hard.
I don't have any kind of "hands" to drive the car properly. The 911 really is better than 99.999% of the drivers out there.
    - The slide shown in the video was the first i made in that car. Loved it!
    - I'm still trying to figure out how to heal-&-toe on that car without braking my ankle, so i didn't even bother.

All in all, it was really an amazing day.

    Cheers
