    Hi Mike,
    As far as I knew,that F40 is down in Cape Town at Viglietti,and not near you up in Johannesburg by Rosso Sport.If you live in Johannesburg,I would say go with the F355 and drive the crap out of it.The simple reasons being A)You going to wait months,if not,years for spare parts if the [censored] hits the fan and B)Piero Giovanelli,who is probably the only mechanic in SA(the mechanic at Rosso Sport)who I would let work on such a car,is retiring soon.That leaves you with Viglietti 2000 km's away in Cape Town.

    I agree with the fact that the F355 pales in comparison,actually there is no comparison,but I think the F40 will be a serious headache in SA.

    yes marco, but i have a house in cape town, i'm in CT for the time being whilst business is sorted out then it's back to the mainland for a little while. yes i know piero, the "big" italian guy we spoke to him last week at his showroom in sandton. yes the maintaince of the f40 in SA has been my main concern, we simply don't have the people to fix these cars in SA should something go wrong. well i haven't put anything down in writing with either of the 2, so i'm still deciding, it's nice to hear from someone who understands the scenario here

    not 100% sure, hadn't gone into that much detail yet with the dealer, all i told him was i was interested in a 355 gts i'm guessing around 20k? let me know if i'm close! all my previous cars have got maintainence plans, so i haven't asked for the cost of a service in a long time

    With only two agents in our country,it really is a hassle owning a F car.Everybody you talk to,comes up with different figures for maintanence,i've heard 15k to 40k for a 355 .The other thing is there are so few,they don't depreciate here.They all go up! In 1995-97 355's were 750k new,now the cheapest are 1.2 million with 20k on the clock !!!

    I would appreciate it,if you let me know what a service will cost.

    I hope they bring out a baby F car at R1.2 million because a 430 at R 2 500 000( $ 360 000) is madness

    P.S. If you at the dealer again,do you think you could ask him about the supposed new Dino/baby Ferrari?

    hey marco, i know that a full service for a lamborghini gallardo is 40k, i actually asked that dealer while i was there lamborghini is worse, there is only 1 agent in SA.. at least ferrari have 2!

    the F430 is roughly R2,500,000 (depending on rand dollar exchange rate) the F430 Spider is around R3,000,000 nearly half a million dollars...

    i HIGHLY doubt the dealer will know about the "dino", especially about stuff like that, all the dealers here (ferrari,porsche,lamboghini etc.) know less about an upcoming car then you do!

    Think you guys in SA should stick to "Bakkies" . Drove one two years ago, from Jburg via Cape Town to Langebaan. SA is an amazing country

    LOL, you spoke some south african "english" just so that the others know, bakkie = pick up, just a smaller size compared to the ones in america yes it is an amazing country, glad you stopped over

    yes hurst that's the problem even if you import it yourself still have to pay the insane taxes.. and it's illegal to import LHD cars, that's why the guy that took a chance on the enzo has his car still standing in the showroom for the past 2 years

    i don't want to wait, plus i've always liked the 355, and many seem to agree (along with me ) that it is the best sounding ferrari ever!

    @boytronic: the service you get from lamborghini here is rubbish, so i won't be buying from them anytime soon

    F40 for sure. It turns heads after all these years. The F40 ranks with the McLaren as the ultimate, exclusive, super car. Oh and like someone else posted, for God's sake drive it!!!!!!
