New addition and the step brother

Hope this pic comes out. Let's just say that the Z is not happy being on the "second floor". It's all good though.

I like how you use the cloth to hide your licence plate

Re: New addition and the step brother

I hope that lift doesn't break!
But interesting way to park your cars lol! and talk about it just fitting underneath!

    congrats on the 997!!

Re: New addition and the step brother

what a cool way to stack cars... Nice job

although i thought porsche owners like to be on top!!!

Re: New addition and the step brother

very nice but only the first pic shows!!

Did you had a model delete designation on the 997?

Re: New addition and the step brother

The model designation is there, but it's washed out in the light.

Re: New addition and the step brother

The lift is the easiest way to add a 4th car to a 3 car garage, although the one on top suffers from a lack of proper attention. I actually had to lower the upper car so you could see it in the picture so in reality I have another 12"of height from what you see. This lift is rated to carry 7000lbs so no worries.

Re: New addition and the step brother

Woody I like the Stinger setup, I'm thinking of getting it up here in canada. Is it easy to operate? I've been on their website and I've seen the clearances how high is your ceiling? Do you have a garage door opener? How did you deal with this?

your input would be greatly appreciated.

    many thx in advance

The lift is very simple to use. My ceiling height in the garage is 10' so I had to have my garage door company come out and put some track extensions on the door track to lift it up as high as possible. I took out the original Genie door opener and installed a "I Drive" opener from Wayne Dalton. This opener is a must for garages with limited ceiling heights/lifts because it mounts on the wall above the garage door. This takes the original opener out of the middle of the garage ceiling and gives you that much extra room for storing cars etc. The best part of this lift is the ease of install, which requires no bolting into the floor and the motor, which is key operated so you can lock the lift by taking the key out and putting the lift in one of the locked positions. The lift only comes in blue, but in my opinion, it looks great and it sure beats having to sell the "old" car once the Cab came in.

But if the RMS fails, it will make quite a mess on the Z then

Re: New addition and the step brother

Actually, there is a removable liner that extends the entire length of the runners just in case something were to drip down onto the car below.

Re: New addition and the step brother

Thanks. You've just allayed some of my fears wrt hieght as my garage is 10' high. I'm going to have to look into the i drive unit as that significantly changes the hieght availability. The stinger unit up here sells for about C$4900 pluc $500 for the install and it gets set up in a few hours. Is what you paid anout US$4,000 based on exchange rates?

If you ever have a chance can you take a pic of the idrive opener so that I can see how/where installed.

Thats what I love about this forum - the ability to share ideas with like minded individuals Kudos to RC and the moderators

Re: New addition and the step brother

Yep. I paid right at $4k including install. I added the cover to protect the lower car at $100 and the motor side bracket at $35. This bracket allows the motor to sit in "line" with the lift instead of off to the side, where it would take up another 8" of room. I'll try and take a pic of the lift today some time.

Re: New addition and the step brother

Many thx again. By the way I have a Nissan too but mine is the Murano SUV and not nearly as nice as your Z. With your gorgeous new cab I wonder if the Z will start to get anxiety attacks when it hasn't hit pavement in a while

Re: New addition and the step brother

Nice in a pinch. I decided against getting one because they turn the normal garage into a mega clutter field. I would also be putting two fancy fun cars on the lift and I immediately knew the top car would never be used. It's such a frivolus decision anyway, "Humm which FUN car should I drive?" Yes, the bottom car will always win. I built a bigger garage insted. (no kidding)

Re: New addition and the step brother

    pic of the opener

Re: New addition and the step brother

That looks great. I just talked to the garage door guys and their going to come over for an inspection tonight. This will especially work for me because I plan on storing my baby (once it arrives late June I'm told) for winter rather than put it in a storage facilty where I can't see it in the middle of February.

I also like the stinger because it's relatively compact compared to other lifts out their.

    Woody 77 I owe you
