anyone here have a 996 with tip that has over 100k miles, just asking because my trans went out and the dealer is charging me $10,000 for a new one. Does this sound about right miles and price, my car is at newport auto center and is a daily driver.
You didn't say MY or whether your car is 2WD or 4WD. An exchange Tip transmision for a 2WD MY99-00 has a dealer retail price of $4241.85. So that sounds like a lot of labor!
hi , Loren tell me about it my car is a 1999 C2 with tip and it has 116K on it and the car was shifting violently where the whole car would shake back and forth during gear changes. My car is currently at Newport Auto Center where it is being worked at, price without tax $9,500
My point was just that an exchange transmission for a MY99 Tip has an MSRP of only $4241.85. It only takes about an hour to remove and install - so $5000 should cover it easy. The current parts list only shows exchange transmissions for MY99 so I don't know where they got a new one. And, a new one is priced at $5839.99 retail. These prices are from the April US price list. Let the buyer beware I guess?
