I use it a lot. Beside finding new adresses or just looking at the arrival time for known places I use it for fun driving.
Start driving, looking for twisty roads, forget the time, get lost somewhere, and find the way home again at the time my wife is not complaining too much.

I wish Porsche as part of a PVM ("Porsche Velocity Management") option could set up a way to ID the police speed traps with red LED's on the Nav map that show where their radar guns are placed sort of like 007's AM DB5 mod. in Goldfinger. 
I imagine the technology is there (the GPS system could at least pick up the police car by satellite detection, I don't know if it could lock on to the radar gun though). As for the legality of it. . . .

If this is going to happen, no one is gonna get a speeding ticket again.. LOL

Sounds crazy, but I've used the navigation system to anticipate curves in the road! I never thought that I would use it in this manner! When the road disappears on the horizon because of a hill or a turn, I glance down at the screen and use that piece of information along with the usual safety precautious on how I attack the turn or not to attack in the case of a hill (not knowing what is on the other side, like a deer).
I've also used it to find new ways of getting to places by programming route options for the shortest path, no highways, etc. and in the process of doing this the navigation unit has put me on little twisty roads I never knew existed just 10-30 miles from my home no less!

I don't know in US, but in Europe they're nav systems that show the localization of permanent radars, monuments, restaurants, etc., as "points of interest" in every country.
You can update it by downloading new informations on the web. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with Porsche system actually.
It works with "non-embedded" GPS nav-systems as TOM-TOM.

When driving a touristic rally, with a roadbook, it's very easy to anticipate on different situations in the road book.
eg.: "third road left" you can see on your screen wether the 3th road is 200m or 2 km away from where you are at that moment.Driving with different belgian p-clubs , we definetely go a lot faster thanks to the nav...
altough it's always a touristic tour, we travel normally a little too fast according to our beloved policemen
