    Re: stone chips

no problem for me....I usually sit on the drivers seat and not the hood indecision

a well installed foil is very very barely visible. it also depends on where you drive your car.

I install it mainly to protect my cars from scratches from otherpeople that do not know how to park. we also get quite a bit of sand in the air when its windy.

    Re: stone chips

Speaking of scratches: A guy I know wrapped his 991 Turbo S in a matte silver foil which is so thick, that you can barely cut through it with a knife. His car got scratched a couple of times, now he just replaces the foil on that part(s) of the car and everything is fine. Good solution.

    Sounds good.

I know detailers hate protective films, think because their cleaning products collect on the joints,, maybe yes..

Forgot to add: Apparently not many wrap shops can do that "thick" wrap, it requires additional work, so pretty expensive (though not as expensive as repainting a door or a hood).

    Re: stone chips

After two years of urban use and two instances of being rear ended, every single panel on my Macan needs to be retouched one way or the other, clear bra would barely have helped. I usually park in only two places and try to be careful. It doesn't help. Clear bra is a must however on some parts of the car like rocker panel.

    Re: stone chips

people clear bra their entire cars now, than you won't see the edge at the hood/fenders and it'll protect the entire paint!

I'd argue it's already built into the resale price of most cars. I think every expects a well used exotic to have some cosmetic wear and tear.

    Re: stone chips

The main problem is with leases where serious stone chip damage can result in some serious payments when returning the car. Never had the "pleasure", thanks god but most cars I owned so far never had any serious stone chip damage.

Speaking of wraps...this is another way how to use wraps to change the appearance of the car and to protect it against damage. Probably not the best idea (I still prefer clear bras) but a possibility... indecision

At least she didn't ask why are you buying a bra to wear.

Yes, it looks interesting for product presentations but I wouldn't want to be seen driving it. Smiley

Saw an old Gallardo with matte olive green wrapping and some US Airforce decals on it when I returned from Italy, car had NL license plates. Looked quite interesting but also a bit pathetic. The guy driving it was a bit younger than me but still... Smiley Nice stuff for car shows, car meets, product presentations and things like that but driving around in it? I don't think so. Smiley

Touch-up if done well and never with the supplied brush. I suggest using these very small sponge swabs - HERE

However... I quickly read the thread but did not see any reference to Dr. Colorchip (my preferred method) - HERE.

Cant imagine it'll be 100%, bud. They have some nice brushes though. I have heard a cotton baby bud is good for touching in chips, wet the cotton with water, then spin it in your finger so the little bit of cotton on the end of the stick in compact, and then touch in chip ( with not an over load of paint , this is key )Smiley.

When you do it post a live video  Smiley...Smiley...

I share the exact same opinion.

I think it looks great on the R8. But I would not drive it.

I have used it and it works very well. Pick the correct color. Read their instructional videos. Smear the color from the side of the chip. Best to use the included squeeggee edge. Let it set for a few minutes 3-5. Remove using a cloth wet with the  removing sealact, flattening any bubble. Repeat the cycle if necessary a few hours later. Looks very good. I do not see corrected chips from 5ft away.
