Oh damn, the old factory on the side are all gone, with new structures like half way finished.
911tts:I think you cannot charge 992 through 12V socket, so you must connect charger directly to battery.
It can be done. Interesting procedure since the car is "too smart" for we old timers.
There is a 30-second window of time after turning off the "ignition" switch when one can introduce the 12-V battery maintainer. If the maintainer is powered up after the 30-second time window, the 12-V socket is disconnected. Within the half-minute time window, the 992 is "smart" enough to know what to do and allows the charging current to remain connected indefinitely.
Step 1) Connect the maintainer to the 12V socket under the dash, high on the side of the console in the passenger foot well. Leave maintainer disconnected from the mains socket.
Step 2) Turn the car off after it had been running. Once the 992 is turned off, plug the maintainer power cord into the mains socket within 30 seconds of powering down the 992.
Step 3) Enjoy battery charging.
FWIW, I assume power interruptions of longer than 30 seconds may disconnect the maintainer, but I don't know from experience.

Whoopsy:Or, Porsche could make the whole thing simpler but introducing a dedicated charging socket in the front trunk, using Ctek's standard connector. Problem solved.
That would be too easy and thoughtful...nah.
