Gnil:
Fantastic to see these 996 on the Ring. How do you compare the driving to the 997 and 991 ?
How fast can you be ?
It feels quite different, it moves around on the round quite a bit more than a 997. Understeer, oversteer, hopping over undulations, it's certainly more lively and requires to be 'driven' more. At the same time, unless my memory is clouding my impressions, the shell feels stiffer, everything is transmitted nicely and purely through the chassis. My setup on this one is the most extreme of all three I had, so of course that taints the picture somewhat.
The 991 doesn't really compare, it feels like a different concept, much bigger, much more grip, much quicker, much less 911. Certainly less fun/engaging to drive. To get the 996 moving around when driven hard, it feels a bit like it's dancing. Fantastic sensation.
On Spa I was quicker with my 996 than I was with the 997 at the time. The ring I don't know, I think I'd take less liberties there now...
