RC, I received some information yesterday from a reliable source but would like to hear your opinion/information if you have any. My question was, the 996tt has a red line of 6750, but what was it really designed to take? His immediate answer was the 6750 is 70% of the maximium design. He added that if you raise the red line you will affect longevity. That would mean the motor is designed to "gernade" after 9642.86 rpm's. Or another way of looking at it is a missed downshift, for a very short duration to 9500 rpm's the motor would probably survive. Do you have any information?
